It had been over a week since since that night together, and two days since Phoenix had last spoken with Ashelin. This could no longer be just coincidence, especially when combined with her unexplained anger.
Ashelin was avoiding him. And the reason was most likely something he had done.
But what? That was the question that rubbed at his mind. This was not the first time he'd earned a woman's ire, but he usually at least had an idea what he did to deserve it. Not this time. This time the anger was an enigma, one he couldn't puzzle out no matter which way he turned it over in his mind.
So. There was only one thing to do.
He knocked on her door.
He was fairly certain that Ashelin was in there.
