December hadn't really met this Razer guy people were talking about, but she decided to go to his birthday party anyway. It would be the perfect chance to meet new people, and who didn't like birthday parties?! Parties were fun; food, people, and music. What wasn't to like, in the child's mind.
Rummaging around in all of the rooms on deck 12, she managed to find herself a nice little party dress and shoes, as well as a nifty looking hat to give to the birthday boy.
Skipping down the stairs to deck 20, she found Bryn setting up the party and smiled, hiding the hat behind her back.
Bryn hadn't been expecting to hear a little girl's voice behind her, and at first she thought perhaps Lily had arrived. As she turned to greet the girl, smile on her face, her eyebrows rose up high in surprise. She'd forgotten there was a new child on board. She crouched down to eye-level with the girl.
"Hi there. I'm doing just fine, but thanks for offering. Are you here for the party?"
December nodded. She knew that the lady was probably expecting someone else, and based on her excited look, she had probably been expecting Lily. Shrugging it off, December smiled and offered Bryn the hat she'd picked out for him.
"I know its silly, cause I don't really know Razer, but I got him a birthday present..."
Bryn took the hat in her hands with obvious pleasure. She turned it over in her hands, examining it carefully.
"This is a wonderfully silly hat," she said with a grin, and handed it out. "That's really sweet of you to get something for him. I didn't think to get Razer a present...I'm Bryn by the way."
She held out her hand to shake. Meeting new people had been wonderful the last couple weeks, so her attitude was definitely one of "the more the merrier."
December nearly danced with glee at Bryn's approval of the hat. She'd fretted over it for several minutes before deciding on that hat. Grinning toothily, she resisted the urge to shower the room in snow in her excitement.
"Nice ta meet you, Bryn! I'm December!"
Let her make of that what she wanted. Everyone did.
"December?" she asked, eyes widening. The smile didn't leave her face however, and she gave the little girl's hand a squeeze. "It's nice to meet you too. I'm envious, you have a lovely name."
Bryn rose to her feet and looked over to the table full of treats and drinks.
December giggled and swung Bryn's arm playfully. "But I like your name! It's really pretty!" When Bryn pointed out the snack table covered in treats, her eyes widened with excitement. All sorts of sweet and delicious looking things.
"What's a cupcake?" She asked, eyes not leaving the table, resisting the urge to dive at it and trying one of everything.
"What's a cu--" Bryn stopped to stare at the little girl. She'd never heard of a cupcake? "Oh my, you've got some catching up to do," she responded with a grin. Without further ado, she plucked a chocolate cupcake with pink frosting and rainbow sprinkles off the tray and held it out to the little girl.
"It's a dessert. A little cake that could fit in a cup! You just take the wrapper off and take a bite. Some people like to eat the bottom first, other people like to lick the frosting off. It's really good though!"
December smiled as Bryn handed her the cupcake, and mumbled a quick "Thanks!" before taking a big bite of the cupcake. Her eyes widened in glee, and she happily ate the cupcake, getting frosting all over her fingers and a teeny bit on her nose. Licking the little bit of frosting from her fingers, she smiled a frosting-y smile up at Bryn.
Bryn watched in amusement. First experiences with things like ice cream and cupcakes were always the best to see. The girl's excitement was infectious, and she picked up a cupcake for herself. After tossing the wrapper in the garbage can, she took a bite out of the corner. It was, as expected, fantastic.
"See what you've been missing?" she asked, giving the girl a wink. December was adorable, and Bryn wondered to herself if she'd met Lily yet.
December continued smiling that infectious grin as she watched Bryn nibble at her own cupcake before she started fidgeting. Looking longingly at the plate of cupcakes, she bit her lip before looking up at Bryn again.
"Can I have another?"
December was quite sure that cupcakes were her new favorite food. Without a doubt.
"Okay!" December chirped when Bryn suggested milk to go with the cupcake. Licking the frosting off the cupcake, she grinned and swallowed, the happiest she'd been since arriving on the ship. Who knew that sugar would have been the perfect thing to fix it all?
She decided to savor this cupcake, taking tiny bites from the soft, moist cake, chewing them diligently before swallowing. It was just as good as the first one.
"Here I'll get you some," she said, grabbing the carton of milk. Glass in hand, carton in the other, she poured the little girl a drink and held it out. It almost, almost made Bryn wonder what it'd like to be a mother. If she'd actually enjoy that sort of thing...
Of course then she remembered the brief event Redd had dumped her in with Jared and well, there went that idea. Still. It didn't change the fact that December was adorable.
"Thank you!" December grinned before sipping from the glass, looking around the room. Spotting something of interest, she smiled at Bryn, dropped a quick "Scuse me!" and scurried off.

The last thing she wanted to deal with was a sick little girl and vomit on the race track.
"They go good with milk too, y'know." Hint, hint. The milk would be good for her, and maybe help with all the sugar she was about to ingest.
