How strange a place...Van hardly understood how any of it worked, or why. At first he'd protested the elevator, then gripped the railing inside in white-knuckled alarm. An alternative to stairs...what next?

"Welcome, indeed," he marveled softly, looking out among the piled chaos, "Havens...What in the world is all this?"

Remy smiled and chuckled a bit as Van pulled himself from the elevator. It had been a hell of a time getting him in. When he asked about the deck, Remy started looking around, a smile comfortably on his face.

"It's everything. Everything you could ever possibly want you can find here with enough determination. Which reminds me that I have got to take you to the library. It's simply amazing. But we're here for clothes."

Remy led them to a room filled with various shirts, different styles and colors and motioned for Vanyel to enter.

For some reason that seemed to bring sorrows back to Vanyel's face. Anything he could ever want? Hardly. Van shook his head at his own foolishness, and pushed past the melancholy place in the back of his mind that was numb with the sheer lack of Yfandes.

"Right," He replied, frowning at the pattern embossed on the nearest suitcase as if it were eminently fascinating, "Then I suppose there's nothing to do but search through it all? Is there any organization to it?"

Remy was already holding up a long-sleeved red shirt by the time Vanyel asked if they should start? "Yeah, go ahead. There's not much by way of organization. Just dive right in. It's the best strategy." He held the shirt up against himself. "What do you think?"

Van shook his head, and turned away to pry out a scrap of white he'd seen, "Not your color."

Bah, it was only a glove, a lady's glove. He leaned up, and dug a little deeper, pulling out- Ah, victory! A white shirt. There were a great many Heralds that washed out in white, but with Vanyel's magic-bleached hair, he knew the color made him look like- what had Savil called it?

"A sword of ice," he murmured softly, testing the material between his fingers. The cut was odd, but it was soft, some kind of knit wool...but not sheep's wool, it was far too soft. He raised his voice, holding out the sweater, long-sleeved and with a gentle V-neck, "And this?"

Remy pouted at the disapproval and looked at the shirt again. "But I like red..." He put the shirt over his arm. He'd consider it.

He examines the sweater his friend is holding. "Oh that looks nice. Maybe better in a blue or get some other color to go under it..." Remy was a man who dressed in layers.

He chuckled softly, "If you had black hair, perhaps. As you are...well, what does it matter. It isn't as if I have to attend court functions- oh, velvet."

It was black velvet, pants of course, and only four sizes too small. Van stroked the fabric appreciatively, but set it aside as useless to him. He teased Remy without looking at him, moving into a row between towers of luggage, "How many Layers do you intend to wear? Call it armor."

Remy ran his hand through his hair. "I did, not too long ago. I used to dye it." He laughed at mentions of court functions. "There's no need to worry about that here. We've only had one formal event and it was in honor of the winter solstice." His voice trailed off a bit as he remember who organized that party. Janelle. How he missed her as well. He noticed his smile fading and quickly brought it back up. "So feel free to be casual."

Remy continued to look for things for himself. "You could call it armor, I suppose. I intend to wear as many as it takes to keep me warm." He looked up to Van with a soft smile. "I'm afraid of the cold."

"The odds of finding a formal set of Whites here are slim," Van replied, unseen among the stacks, "And, fine by me. I've never been much for...festivals. Casual, ha. I think we'll have differing opinions on what constitutes that."

Van opened a stylish black chest and found it quite full of men's clothing. Blacks and deep peacock blues, wines, smoke grey's and of course- white. Van hmmed appreciatively, and moved a few layers to the side, not at all objectionable to simplicity in his search.

Remy looked over to what Vanyel had found and gave a low whistle. "Good find. You look good in darker colors, I assume."

"I don't like to brag..." a wry smirk turned towards his newfound friend, "Actually, I don't get much chance to wear them. As a Herald I seem to spend all my life in white uniforms."

Remy smirked back, somehow sensing the opposite. He stuck out his tongue at mention of his friend's constant wearing of white. "How boring and easy to get stained. I assume you can clean them or else life must be difficult. Even so, there is nothing wrong with a little color." Remy loved wearing colors, especially since arriving on the ship. His wardrobe back home consisted mostly of browns and black, with a few deep reds. Here anything was possible and he was particularly fond of his bright orange sweatshirt.

"As I said, I've not had many vacations," Van replied, and folded the clothing back into it's trunk, closed and snapped the lid and lifted the lot by it's handles, "This'll do."

"Well you're going to make up for that here, I assure you," Remy said with a laugh as he gathered his meager selections. "Do you need help with that," he asked nodding to the trunk.

"I've got it," He assured him, though now he had to stifle the grunt when he hefted it, "Don't let me rush you."

"No rush, no rush at all, I'm here for you." Remy said as he rushed to the other's side and helped him hold up the trunk. "What deck are you on?"
