Perpetually early, that's Tanvir. He makes a beeline for Remy and--oh look! He even brought a present! ...Okay, it's a shot glass from deck 12 that has a little picture of Nevada on it, but whatever, he thought it was appropriate, all things considered.
"Remy!" Tan's grin is broad and genuine. "Happy boataversary, yeah? Here, got you something."
Remy got up to greet his friend and eagerly took the shotglass into his hands as he smiled. He examined it closely but had no idea what the picture was.
"What's this? On it, I mean. I know what a shot glass is."
Hugging Remy in greeting is almost automatic. He stops before he does, though. Taken. Remy's taken. Who knows how his partner would react? No sense in messing up Remy's good thing.
"Nevada, you mean?"
Oh right. Right, Remy's not from his world. Funny how easy it is to forget.
"Oh right. It's uh. It's a state in the country I'm from. South and west from me."
Remy looks confused as Tanvir stopped going for the hug. There was nothing wrong with a friendly hug as far as Remy was concerned, so he finished what Tan started.
"Nevada. Interesting name. Ever been there?"
He led Tan over to the punch table and started to serve him a glass.
"It's always pretty in pictures. Think I'd hate it, though. The heat on this boat is enough to wipe me out." Yes, he's getting used to it, but it's still warmer than he's used to. For a guy who grew up without air conditioning, this is weird.
"Oh, y'know," he says with a laugh, "I just want to know who's poisoning me. Bartenders, y'know. Crafty bunch."
"This place feels like the middle of summer to me, all the time!" He's still grinning, and he pauses to drink some of the punch. Oh, man, Remy. It's good punch. "I'm just not used to it, is all. I guess...." He does a quick calculation in his head. "I guess the weather would be starting to cool off where I'm from. I keep expecting it to here, too."
Tan stops and looks at his glass thoughtfully. "Really, what's in this? It's pretty good."
"Usually it does so for the winter holidays. I tend to stay inside then. Other than that, it stays like this year round."
Remy looked to his glass and then the bowl. "Let's see...rye whiskey, water, sugar, green tea, rum, cognac, lemons, oranges, sparkling wine, sparkling water and some nutmeg."
He nods in response to that. Good to know it'll at least pretend to cool off eventually. It's not that Tanvir minds the heat, exactly, it just makes him feel...restless.
The punch, however. That's just making him happy. "Shit. I drink too much of this and I'll be plastered to the floor!" He offers his now empty glass back to Remy. "Fill me up, friend?"
"Remy!" Tan's grin is broad and genuine. "Happy boataversary, yeah? Here, got you something."

"I think it's Native American? Never been there. I was strictly an East coast boy. Forest and mountains for me. Desert's too hot."
The punch looks good, smells good, and tastes good. So of course...
"Lemme guess. You made this?"

He handed the punch glass to his friend and smirked. "Now what kind of question is that?"

He laughed, refilling his glass. "Oh I'd believe it. They're the sneakiest of types. And very skilled, might I add."

"To another year."

"To another year." Tan clicks his glass against Remy's and downs it.
