She's gone to a lot of effort, you see, and - along with the help of a certain cabin boy named Siran (who, unbeknownst to Alice, has slipped in a few little savory tricks, uh oh) -

[Lemon cookies are weird-tasting, Xanth decided. But the weirder thing was suddenly everything was so much louder. And in his peripheral vision he sees something fuzzy. He lifts his hands to his ears and...

[And who's that standing on the other side of the table, paused mid way into bringing a cookie to her mouth and doing nothing but stare? It's Vie!]

[...oh no. No no nooo no no. Xanth goes bright right and clamps his hands over his already-down-turned fox ears.]

H-H, uh, uh. H. Hi.

[Vie blinks.]

Ah. Hi.

[Pause.]

I don't mean to be rude, but you didn't have those ears a moment ago did you?

[Unaware that the cookie is to blame, Vie takes a bite.]

N-No, no, no-- I-- I, I just, I don't... I-I don't kn-know what happened! Th-this is just! I-I ate th... the cookie th-thing a-and then it was... it...

[His ears twitch a little. He clamps harder. Ow!]

[That voice is familiar! But Vie's a little too distracted with Xanth's new ears to try to put a name to the sound.]

You ate the cooki--

[Vie glances at the cookie in her hand with the bite mark in it and gives Xanth a slightly freaked out look. She hasn't quite realized that she is now sporting two dark wolf ears and a tail.]

But that's impossible.

[The ears and tail could almost be accompanied by a "sproing" sound.]

But-- n-no, look, l--look!

[Xanth is pointing at your new ears, Vie!]

[SPROING!]

[She looks up and reaches carefully to touch one, then both ears.]

FA'REIN! Sol'o suat!?

E--Exactly!

[He has no idea what you just said, but you look shocked! And he, too, is shocked.]

[Her words were rather... colourful. We'll leave it at that. 8D]

The same happened to Alice earlier. Hers were... long and white.

[What's that thing moving behind her? Vie peers back cautiously and yelps at the sight of her tail.]

[STARE.

...but not for more than a couple of seconds. That's just rude.]

O...oh... oh dear. I-- I hope i-it's not p-permanent...

[He fiddles with his fingers and his right ear twitches a couple of times.]

Kellos! I should hope not.

[Forgive her Xanth, Vie is just a little bit freaked at looking like a clansman. Vie's just going to keep holding her ears and staring at her tail.]

...If the cookies did this, then something else should turn us back, right?

...w-well, uh, m--maybe? I... I don't know, th-though. I've-- I've b-been to... one of th-these things, where w-weird things happened, a-and it... just... it w-went away on-- on its own. A-After a while.

[Swivel twitch twitch. Can these things keep still for a damn second!]
