She's gone to a lot of effort, you see, and - along with the help of a certain cabin boy named Siran (who, unbeknownst to Alice, has slipped in a few little savory tricks, uh oh) -

[And there's Kage in his usual navy-blue uniform, looking grim as usual. He's nibbling on a few sugar cookies, and he's got a bottle of iced vodka beside him on the table.

He watches the party and snacks on the cookies. They're sweet. Kage doesn't mind sweets.]

[Oh hey, Kage. The Mithra hasn't seen you in a while, so she slowly approaches with a wave.]

Ah, hello.

[She's actually wearing a yellow dress with red and blue designs on it, along with a black obi-belt thing.]

Cat.

[He sounds a little surprised and he looks over at her, then up and down her.]

Lookin' good. How's the boat treatin' you?

[There's a nod to her name being called before standing next to him. She tries to ignore the complement but her face still manages to obtain a blush.]

I've met some new people, its been nice. I've been spending my time racing with the Chocobos.

[A small smile creeps to her lips but her hand reaches up to the back of her neck to scratch at that tattoo.]

What about you?

Workin'. Honestly, it's been pretty dull. Ain't felt much like social-shit, I tell you that much.

[And yet here he is, chatting pleasantly with the gently blushing Cat. She's pretty, the nose, ears and tail are cute, but Kage doesn't even allow sexual thoughts about her to cross his mind. She's off the market, by his culture's standards, so much so that he wouldn't even shake her hand if she offered.

One simply cannot touch a member of the opposite sex who is married or engaged. That's just wrong.

So Kage peers around behind to where her tail flicks back and forth.]

... does that thing come in handy? The tail, I mean.

Oh, that is understandable.

[When Kage glances at her tail she can't help but look over her own shoulder. Was there something attached to it?]

Well, I can sometimes carry small bags on it if my arms are full. I don't think there is anything else, why?

Hah. See, that'd be useful.

[Having an extra limb like that?]

... 'course, then none'a my clothes would fit.

Its something rare for me though.

[There was a bit of a laugh.]

Of course. If I didn't have my tail again, my normal clothes wouldn't work either.

[Kage breathes out a laugh at that.]

You keep your tail, I'll keep my tailbone, we call it even, awright?

[Another nod and set of laughter. This was really nice to be talking to the first mate. Although, she looks at Kage for some help.]

Ah, a friend of mine ate a... pastry and he's suddenly shorter than normal. Do you know how to reverse it?

Eat a pastry that makes him taller.

[Kage squints and glances at the table, then points out the growth sweets.]

Those ones, right there.

That does sound reasonable.

[She follows his gaze and quickly goes to pick one up before returning to Kage's side.]

Thank you.

[There's a smile on her lips again.]

Most things on board got their own logic.

[He glances down between them and then shifts over just a little so not even the fabric of their clothes touches.]

No problem. 'Swhat I do.

[He flashes her a smile.]

[Cat tilted her head a little when he moved away.]

Is... something the matter?

Nah, just that I don't mean no disrespect.

[He waves his hand.]

You're not disrepecting me.

[She's still confused, but won't step any closer.]
