Xanth has surprised himself. He's actually excited about having a get-together with some friends. He may not have gotten everything fixed up before this like he wanted, but things were better, at least. No recent maulings to speak of.
He's at the entrance to the forest earlier than the appointed time, a collection of snack foods and bedding gathered at his feet. It would be rude for the host to be late!
