The Coup ~fifth descent~

Jan 19, 2010 20:39

After the blinding gaudiness of the wigs, this deck appears depressingly normal and grey. Much like the first deck they encountered, this one follows an industrial theme, though it is kept sparklingly clean, and the harsh scent of disinfectant makes it smell disturbingly like a hospital emergency room ( Read more... )

A hospital emergency room?

Oh. fuck.

Gideon has to force himself to move in deeper, although it's hard for him to keep from blanching. He hates hospitals, and the context just makes this all the creepier.

The smell only grows stronger the further he ventures.

The drummer groans quietly and keeps walking. The doors catch his attention... and he once again fears what he'll find behind them. Ignoring the stench, he puts his hand around one of the door handles and sees if it will open.

Gideon's breath hitches. What's he going to find? Holding cells? Another strange tank full of bodies? Or something else entirely?

He crack the door open and peeks inside.

Inside, the room is dark, the light bulb overhead having burned out. It's small; there's a tiny, lumpy bed and a set of shackles fixed to the wall at the foot of it. It looks like it's meant to hold one person.

... Gideon has a very, very bad feeling about this. He knows that he should back up. Should check another room, or something. But he has to check.

He approaches the bed and looks for items or garments that would belong to his anyone from his homeworld, either bandmate or former lover. He hopes he won't see any traces of them having been down here.

There is a dirty, tattered sheet on the bed, and one small, off-white pillow. Scratched into the wall by the bed is the phrase "THE CAPTAIN IS A GREAT MAN", in many different kinds of handwriting.

Gideon observes the bed and the writing. Maybe this is some sort of place that crew members are taken when they're sick... but it seems a lot stranger than he expected. Then again, the strangeness really shouldn't surprise him, he realizes. Still, it's a lot less... nice than he would expected the crew to be treated to. The bed doesn't look comfortable, and he knows restraints when he sees them.

Sighing, Gideon steps out of the room and tries another door.

The door opens easily, and inside is an identical cell, this one with more graffiti of the same nature.
