The Pioneers

She opened her mouth only a fraction
to allow just the tip of the barrel to be pressed to her teeth
she could taste the cold steel
it reminded her of her father and what he smelled like after working all day
that rich, thick, smell of musk...sexual
The hand behind the barrel was thick and calloused
forming a death grip on the clean black and silver handle
damaging it's unflawed surface with the sweat and steam
of fear and exhiliration
you could see the hearbeat deep in the veins of the wrist
she knew that the moment was coming soon
her knees hurt from the pressure of her weight
and she almost relished the finale
almost
if she could only remember what she was here for
their were so many things to think about
life
tragedy
ignorance
she felt like she lost trust in everyone
they say deception is the key
then it was done
yeah
