Okay, okay...
Hopefully I can get this all. (Not that there's much, helloooo)
2 weekends ago I (finally!) saw The Bigger Lights at Valentines. It was so good! I felt like an asshole, though. Dad brought me and I'd never been there before, and I wasn't sure when it was supposed to start, so we got there wicked early, waited outside not sure what to do, and finally about 45 minutes later we talked to the bouncer that was out there and I paid and went up. Even then there was only one or two other people there, and I think they were friends with one of the other bands. So I just stood there and texted or pretended to text for I don't even know how long, maybe like an hour, and the whole time JK, Topher, and Dan kept walking by and I wanted to say hi but I didn't because I was convinced they were busy. When the whole shebang finally did start, there weren't even that many people there. The first band, The Day Was Mine, was really good. I found their myspace a couple of nights before and I figured they'd be talentless dicks, but I digged their sound a lot. (They may still be dicks though, I have insufficient evidence to tell...) Then TBL went second. That was good and bad, because I was kind of curious about the other bands, but I knew dad didn't want to stay (of course he had to make me feel horrible and wait in the fucking car the whole time). Their remixes sound so fucking good! They're releasing them eventually so I'm excited for that. I talked to Topher afterwards and he saw me singing along =) Love when that happens, especially since it seemed like I was the only person there who knew them. Fucking Albany. I bought a shirt and we talked about the tour and this energy mint or something he bought at the gas station and I gave him a Barbie sticker valentine I found in my room that was supposedly made in 1992 and he put it on the cashbox. Then we tried to take a picture, but the lighting from my camera wasn't really working out, so we used my phone and I accidentally erased that picture, so we had to take a few more before I good one came out. We took maybe 7 or 8 pictures in all and I felt bad but he was really sweet about it. Then I got a hug (actually he hugged me twice! Without me even asking! Yeah, I'm special.) and went outside. I really wanted to talk to JK and Dan, and when I walked over there it seemed like Dan was standing with Topher but he had walked away by the time I got to him. JK was sitting in the back texting so I figured I wouldn't bother him. I'm sure there will be other opportunities, though. =) So I left before 9. Definitely the strangest concert experience I've ever had, besides C&C Music Factory's set at Summer Jam... -shudders-
There has been 2 more Rocky Horror nights since the last. One we actually went back to the Linda for and I dressed up, and the second was when Cassie randomly picked me up and we went to the mall to buy the DVD and get Chinese food. I fucking love having friends who drive, it's so cool. Especially since they haven't gotten tired of bringing me places yet for free (Cassie's even still offering me rides...) At this rate I may never learn to drive. (Lie.)
Ummm... jazz choir! Jazz choir was really fun. We sounded awesome and everyone was really nice. Mike from Music Man and Gabby and Rich from the café were in it as well. The second day, the day of the concert, was probably the best. I brought Apples to Apples to play during lunch, even though we didn't have that much time, and when we were waiting in the library before we had to go wait backstage we did group singalongs, including a huge rendition of the Hallelujah Chorus. Mwahaha. We are nerds. We're all friends on facebook now. Yay for technology replacing the value of physical relationships!
I'm on break this week. Saturday I put a new desk in my room, which took me probably about 6 hours because my life fails, and Monday and yesterday I did my first college visits. Other than that and open mic, I've done absolutely nothing yet. So bored! Though they were tedious and I got almost no sleep because of them, the college visits were really nice. I went to Crane the first day, and we got a one-on-one tour because their students are on break as well and there weren't any group tours scheduled. I really like it there, but I think I like Ithaca more. We had a group tour at Ithaca, and the campus is really great. It looks more like a college than Crane, which kind of looks like another high school. It seems to have more going on as well, and the conservatory impressed me a bit more. However, I'm already meeting the mark for a scholarship from Crane, and, depending on my SAT/ACT scores, I could apply for a limited scholarship that could give me a full ride. So Crane has its perks as well. I'm not sure when, probably late spring or over the summer, I'm going to visit Purchase, Five Towns, and Bennington, maybe a few others. I'm still utterly in love with Bennington, but I will probably have to rule it out because 50k tuitions do not agree with this family at the moment... I'm kind of pissed because Nick is going to a private school and got a laptop. Most likely because of this, dad is pushing SUNY schools and a desktop. Yeah, love being the youngest child. Definitely. But perhaps the best thing to come from the college visits is the realization that I CAN FUCKING LEAVE THIS PLACE IN A LITTLE OVER A YEAR!!!! It feels weird, like I shouldn't be graduating next year but I should really be a freshman or something, but it feels so good at the same time. I'm going to miss the town, yes, in all of its dreadfully boring suburbian splendors, but I will NOT fucking miss this house. Hell to the yes.
Oh and I had another Jonas Brothers dream last night, but it wasn't really that good. I guess I was watching a youtube video of them doing a soundcheck or something, and they accidentally swore a couple times and Joe and Nick sang an Enrique Iglesias song. The count is now at... 4? Yes. 4 Jonas Brothers dreams. I am pathetic. (But at least I'm not a pedo! Hurrah!)
