right, so this is really becoming a journal with two purposes:
1. as i work on my senior project, i shall post beautiful hebrew poetry of yehuda amichai, and sometimes the breathtaking words of other jewish scholars (i.e. heschel)
2. to carry on a cryptic, generally internal debate with myself about.... eh.... well, maybe i'll elaborate some other time. but i've been thinking about it a lot this year. the last stanza below does a pretty good job of capturing it, though
so, without further ado, both purposes fulfilled with excerpts from another tremendous poem, thanks to my lover, noala.
A sleepless night that gives others a headache
gave me flowers
opening beautifully inside my brain....
Love is not the last room: there are others
after it, the whole length of the corridor
that has no end.
