Did you ever just find out something from Facebook that in an ideal world and a different time you would have been informed of in person? Or at least over the phone?
So, my brother went to visit his online girlfriend this past Saturday. (This is his 2nd visit in person. They've known each other online for almost a year, and have been dating since July.) Apparently, they got engaged today. Know how I found out? That's right! On Facebook. Now, I know it's his life - blah, blah, blah - he's 40 years old - blah some more - and that it's not really my business or my decision. However, he lives with me and pays me rent. It's not like we never see each other. I also have him on a signed lease. He needs to give me 30 days notice (preferably in writing) that he is leaving/ending his lease. So, technically it really is my business.
Don't get me wrong. I love my brother and I'm happy for him. I hope this works out for them both. And I absolutely love the fact that we will in all likelihood no longer be living together within the next year or so. I just would have preferred more than the surprise Facebook post that the rest of the world received. You know, like before he went on an 8 hour drive to her place.
Ugh! Older brothers with lacking social skills!
Thanks lj, for letting me rant somewhere that isn't Facebook :)
