Hello everyone! I haven’t forgotten about LJ, even after a couple of years of not posting anything to it. I do occasionally check posts from friends and comment but life and Twitter got my attention.
Since I last posted, a LOT has changed in my life. I no longer live in the Midwest, as I moved and became a Florida resident a couple of months ago. I finally moved to an area that I was meaning to move in for the last 20 years! I had a couple of close calls but things never materialized, until now.
With my move to the Sunshine State, I got a new job as well. Now I won’t go into details of the company I work for publicly, but let’s just say that it’s in a totally different industry and hands-down the most interesting company I have ever worked for - in my life. I am glad to take on a totally different job with a fun twist of a challenge! So far, I have been doing pretty well. My goal is to learn and get experience in as many things as I can, and figure out where to go from there.
The only bummers to moving down here is the amount of traffic throughout the major cities in this state. I really do not remember the traffic being this bad in the past. I am so glad that my work schedule gets around the mess that the majority of the population here has to deal with everyday. So I feel lucky.
The other bummer are my friends who I will dearly miss back home in the Midwest. There are even certain aspects of the Midwest that I already miss. The open land, traffic not being as bad, the small towns spread throughout the region - they all have their little charm. Oh too, the food! Central Florida doesn’t seem to have any particular foods they can call their own, or that sticks out to me. Blah. Once I gain some vacation time, my goal is to fly back and see friends and some family.
As for my furry life, I am still pretty active in it, but have toned down the amount of cons I will attend in a year. For the last few years, I was starting to feel the burn factor whenever I attended a con, which isn’t a good thing. Plus, the cons were getting expensive and I want to save money for other things (like fursuits and such ;) Going to just a couple of cons a year is something that I can live with these days, and last year I did just that. Quality over quantity is a great thing!
Yes, I still have a whole collection of fursuits. Since I last posted, I have gained and sold a few critters, which is quite nice. I get to see up close and enjoy the latest and greatest in the fursuiting community, while enjoying my older ones which have really held up super well over the years. Even if I don’t make it to as many cons, I still find ways to get my critters out! Sometimes I will lend out my fursuits to friends and let them take it to cons so I can be there in spirit ^^
Wow, I typed out a bit more than I anticipated. Maybe I just needed to get this out of my mind and communicate it to the rest of you fuzzies. Typing all of this felt pretty good, so I might as well update my journal more often. Here’s to more adventures!
