You've got a point there, buddy.

However, just 'cause our money is worthless doesn't mean that the crew and the captain aren't getting paid.

Hell, the captain might really be just a captain, and even though he's 'a great man' he might not be the top dog.

Thanks, I try to keep my points sharp. [There's his wisecrack, and now to be semi-serious.]

It could be possible he's doing it out of the goodness of his heart, but I seriously doubt that. So either he's getting paid to do it, somehow, or he's just... off his gourd. [Which he hasn't discounted either.]

Or he's running on a set of assumptions and information that we don't have access to. He still might be mad in that scenario.

The goal would, then, to find out what that info or assumptions are, but I doubt that asking nicely is going to get us the answers.
