In light of recent events, I've put together something of a timeline for the curious, and to clear up misunderstandings. In the absence of a rational system of justice, the court of public opinion will have to suffice.
At the outset, Jane Dowe, [user id], who believes herself to be logged into an immersive video game, "initiated Player vs. Player"--which is to say, went on a killing spree. She killed Billy, [user id], Mikaela Barnes, [user id], Gail Woodling, [user id], and Shigeru Akagi [user id], all of whom were resurrected by "the system."
She then attacked Jak, [user id], triggering a physical transformation. Jak retaliated, killing Dowe. He then turned on Oleg Yukorsky, [user id], killing him. Both Dowe and Oleg were later resurrected by the system.
At this point, I arrived on scene and incapacitated Jak. Redd then appeared, disposing of the bodies and teleporting Jak away.
The above is all purely factual. Past this point, facts are mixed with deduction.
Jak's condition, while unfortunate and dangerous, is not his fault. On his world, he was an experimental subject in an unethical super-soldier program attempting to create something called a "Dark Eco Warrior." It seems to have been of mixed success. In this "Dark Eco" state, Jak's offensive capabilities are increased, but his self-control is absent.
The Dark Ego project was run by Praxis, [user id], and Erol, [user id]. They are the ones who turned Jak into what he is. Further, a coordinated campaign of harassment aboard Elegante by Praxis and Erol exacerbated the underlying instability in Jak's psyche. They intentionally tipped him into a mental condition where his altered state would inevitably be triggered.
No analogy is perfect. However: One puts down a dangerous or rabid dog, but the dog is not responsible for its condition. The fault lies with the owner.
