Had the craziest dreams last night. I woke up certain that I had been yelling/moaning in my sleep but apparently my roommates did not notice any odd behaviours. By the time I actually looked at the clock it was around 8:30. I was so confused, I was so sure it was mid-afternoon or early evening. Instead it was early morning. I've been feeling really good most of the day, well rested and un-jetlagged, that is until about an hour ago. I feel like I could crawl into bed and just sleep for a week. Good thing Thai people put a huge emphasis on rest and relaxation so everyone keeps encouraging me to "take it easy" and eat and watch tv and just lounge around the house. And you wonder why I love it so much here??? Ate the BEST food today. Pad Thai for lunch, then for dinner a feast of steamed brocolli in a sweet soy sauce w/garlic, morning glory salad, more pamello, and these amazing cucumbers stuffed with chicken and noodles that tasted just like my mom's chicken soup! yum yum :) In a little while I think I may head out with one of the other volunteers for a 2 hour Thai massage. The place is open until 11pm and the cost is around 300 Bhatt (around 7 bucks). Pimsuda also offered to hook me up for free at her friend's spa where they do the full treatment; sauna, facial, aromatherapy, swedish and thai massage, the works. Don't worry, I've been working today. Today we had a 7 hour marathon meeting. The first half consisted of a teacher training conference with different teachers and administrators from our volunteer placements. It was really informative and I think is a huge step in the right director towards making our work more productive and the experience more fullfilling for volunteers. However, most of it was conducted in Thai and often I felt I was missing out on a lot in the translation. After that it was just me and the CCS staff talking, catching up, and planning for the future while eatting lots of candy. Candy makes everything more fun doesn't it? Oh, and after a day and a half in Thailand I already have 21 mosquito bites (no joke, I just counted) JUST around my feet and ankles. My blood must be like heroin to these Thai bugs! Well that's enough computer time for now. Time to go wander around the city and soak up as much of my precious time here as I can.
later.
