Something I forgot to mention

We took Simone to the Pediatrician for a "wellness" visit. Refused MMRI until she's older, thankfully with no hassle or debate, but when it came time for the doc to ask questions about diet, she was very nasty about me still breastfeeding. Guilty, are we? I explained that I eat as vegan as possible, and want to protect my daughter from the life ( Read more... )

C got hers somewhere between 15-18 mos...can't rem...I know her doc wanted to wait, tho.

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRR that pediatrician is an ASSHOLE!!!
C never had even a drop of cow's milk till she was almost 2 1/2 and now,on her own,she prefers Vitamite---which is an approved supplement...it still has a milk derivative...but it's better than straight out cow's milk--that causes tummy aches/constipation and allergies.
Too bad you live so far away...we have two docs (one woman/one man)in our office who are quite nice...
AND Dr. Sears' two sons work in San Clemente. (they're docs too)
I am soooo glad that you are so secure about being a great mummy to your daughter. So many first time mums will follow anything the docs tell them. I had one tell me to get C out of our bed (she was only two mos old)and that I needed to train her to fall asleep without the breast...whatever...she is fine.
It's funny how they say "get them to fall asleep on their own" but then they say "give them a pacifier" and "let them cry it out" and "they need to learn to soothe themselves" and yet they are suppose to be looking out for the best interest of the child...so clueless.
Luckily i had only gone thru one doc that was like that.
I had left and gone to a great doc's office in La Jolla...where there were five docs who praised me for practicing "attachment parenting" and now that we had moved here i have the two i mentioned...very nice. ok i babbled.
i sympathise with your hurt, anger and disbelief.
BUT AMEN TO YOU SISTAH! hee hee

I can go anywhere, to see doctors, and usually my mom takes me, so if there are good docs down there, it might just be easier. I think I just need them to be covered under Blue Shield. Man, I can't wait till this younger generation of happy, AP parented kids grows up and changes the medical industry for the better. *crosses fingers*
