Stranger than Fiction comes out this friday!

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

the Griffith Observatory has just been reopened to the public (November 3rd) after a four year renovation! i hope i can get reservations soon. or maybe i should wait a while until the craze dies down a little? either way, the observatory shall be expecting a visit from me in the near future.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

i'd also really love to go to the AFI Fest this year but i can't afford it. i think next time around, i'm going to try and volunteer so i can get in for free since it's too late to try this year (deadline was october 27) and the fest is currently in procession and will be until the end of this week (november 12). but that's also okay that i can't go cause an old friend of mine is finally turning 21 this saturday. celebrations will be in place.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Baldwin Hills host nearly 450 acres of protected parkland including the Kenneth Hahn State Recreation Area, the Ball Field Complex, Baldwin Hills Scenic Overlook, and Culver City Park. Rising 500 feet above the Los Angeles Basin, this expanding natural oasis is easily accessible to millions of residents, providing unique opportunities to enjoy hiking, bird watching, and breathtaking views in a natural setting without having to leave the city.

The Baldwin Hills Conservancy is working in partnership with California State Parks and the Los Angeles County Department of Parks and Recreation to acquire the remaining open space in the area and develop a unified two-square mile natural park, recreation and open space destination for current and future generations.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

the Korean Friendship Bell at Angel's Gate Park in San Pedro. that view is quite spectacular! i just found out about this a week ago from my friend kris after i told him about that conservancy in Baldwin Hills. it's ultimately the best place for a picnic and kite flying and anything else outdoorsy.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

I haven't been to Mission San Juan Capistrano since probably high school. That also deserves a visit not to mention the surrounding city is real cute.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

*don't mind the people, i have no idea who they are. cute father-daughter? haha.

Hearst Castle in San Simeon. the castle is pretty magical looking (inside more than out) and the city surrounding it is absolutely adorable. this is something i'm going to push for over break. it's about a four hour drive or so it says. and there are bed and breakfasts all over. it'll be a really cute trip. but i'm going to need company on this one, i'm not good at long drives by myself... any takers?

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Point Reyes is way way way up north past San Francisco. it's the "national seashore" and i don't know when i'll get the chance, but as soon as i do, i'm totally taking it. that looks pretty darn'd amazing to me. (willing company are welcome too)

cleverly done installations by photographer Cindy Bernard.

and one of my latest faves, the work of Stephen Chiu.

as you can see, there was really no proper, sensical transition to this entry.
