Today was unbelievable. John and I arrived at 6am at Kettering Medical Center. Amy had already checked in. Within 30 minutes, we had a small party going on: Amy's other half-sister, her dad, two aunts, 3 cousins, Amy's "husband", John and me. Her step-mom and grandma showed up as we were leaving. She was called back for her pre-op and MRI and the "husband" went with her and then her dad was called back. 3 hours later, "husband" comes out and and says something and all we here is "gone!" We don't know if he said she's gone, as in left for surgery or she's gone, as in dead....we didn't know. He told us that her tumor is gone.
Apparently, the MRI scan showed that her brain is normal with no tumor. They repeated the scan in a different MRI and still no tumor. The doctors have no explanation other than "It's a miracle. I've never seen this before." She has a follow up appointment in a bit. I'm happy but a bit cautious. My cousin Jen was told that her brain tumor was gone and a month later they said "Whoops! It's still there. My bad." But Amy has a second chance and I'm hoping that she will use this well and change her life around.
But there's no tumor. And that is good.
