we got out of work early on friday, and that was delightful in that it gave us a few more precious hours to prepare for sunday. the good thing was, i didn't feel like the entirety of our weekend was one great big rush for easter dinner. a nice change - i think we've hit some sort of rhythm when it comes to this stuff.
shopped the wegmans for a bit, which i thought was going to make my husband explode in a fit of rage. wegmans is a wonderful, awesome grocery store, with people who are too concerned about where THEY want to go to do things like, oh, share the isle, not stop in the middle of one and block the way of everyone else, etc. i know every store has that problem, but maybe because weggies is so darn busy all the time, it's exaserbated. either way, i thought he was going to go chrisuvious on me and blow. :P
we went to a party at andrew and tamara's on friday night, to meet adora. she's awesome, and we had a great time. i ate and drank way too much, day 1 of my weekend of 'what diet?' it seemed. we had said we were only going to stay until 9ish so we could get home and do some more prep work for sunday, but that went out the window. poor chris. he was so sleeepy, and i couldn't have driven home. he's such an awesome trooper.
saturday i felt like the consumate yuppster. woke up early. got some starbucks. went to the home depot. one of my favorite things about shopping there is the view, oddly enough. from there, and from the target parking lot you have these great views of the blue ridge foothills. it really puts a shine on your morning shopping. :) i bought boucoup beautious flowers, and then went home and spent my morning and afternoon mulching, planting, and cleaning out old brush. it was hours of hard work, but it looked great as a result. and my dogwood lived through the winter, and for that i am eternally greatful.
people came over, and it was good. we decided to bbq out back with the new deck set to sit on, and had a yummy meal, nice conversation, and just a pleasant, warm evening. we even moved to the front yard, laying down wherever it was dry (when chris wasn't moving the sprinkler to get us wet!) and looking at the stars. the night ended way too soon, with me making bloody bunny cakes (minibunny red velvet cakes) and crashing out to SNL.
sunday was good. no, sunday was great. all the food came out excellent, everyone but one could attend, and i hope fun was had by all. we even had an easter egg hunt, and ended the night playing games. even cleaning up was great, everyone had helped out so much along the way that there wasn't all that much to even do.
monday is here though, and now i'm spent. totally and completely. plum tuckered, even. i don't know what i have on deck for tonight at home, but it best be low-intensity. :)
