There's not alot you can do with me | I'm my own catastrophy.

There's no way I'll keep the musebox going if I do this other places. Ergo, I should actively use it..right?

INSPIRATION

DAY 01 - Where do you get inspiration for characters and/or plots?
Usually inspiration for me comes suddenly. It's like a flash out of the blue and there's not a whole hell of alot I can do about it. I'm one of those people that has to do it NAO so I'll sit and think about it and depending on if the idea is pounding in my brain or if it's just kind of sitting there after it's initial cry for attention, I may put a few things into the computer.

What I'm learning is to develop actual ideas to go with the universe, along with more concrete characters. My character construction skills are nil.

DAY 02 - How do other RPers inspire you?
If I can get a mental picture from what they're writing, and I mean a good mental picture, that's important. They have to have a really easy flow and a really solid grasp on the character that they're writing.

Basically, if they inspire me to a higher standard? we're pretty much go.

DAY 03 - What are the inspirations for your characters' usernames?
I honestly tend toward quotes. There have been a couple where I've picked things or characteristics that make sense to me, but usually I prefer direct movie quotes so that people will have some vague idea of who I'm playing.

My favorite has to be Charles Bromley-weareblessed was perfect.

This also applies to my original characters, if they want a specific name they're usually vocal about it, but it's normally taken from a quote.

BACKSTAGE INFO
DAY 04 - Tell us about a character you almost didn't pick up.
Angelina Hoffman.

Because it's weird playing someone who is your sister and who is constantly chiding you or looking at you and on the verge of crying, but it's nice for Hoffman to have his sister with him and she can at least be a voice of comfort and reason. Once upon a time also, when she died the reaper who took her into the afterlife made his quota so now she sort of wanders around and takes the souls of Jigsaw's victims which requires a hell of alot of waiting because it really is random chance which pisses the boss off, not to mention her.

She let Hoffman know of this once, and he to this day feels terrible about it and has slipped back into drinking knowing that his sister is basically living in 'servitude' as he calls it.

DAY 05 - Tell us about a character you wish you still played.
Nathan Wallace...nngh-generally because he is a really cool character. But, I have learned, you have to be really secure in yourself before you play a character that constantly needs hugs when you need hugs all the time.

DAY 06 - Tell us about a character you're excited about but haven't had a chance to play or develop yet.
Nina Sayers is going to be interesting. I unfortunately relate to Nina on a lot of levels so she's...going to be different and I'm going to have to be carefully.

But my biggest and best? BabyDoll. The script is ASHGOWIEGHGNOGH!!! and she is...adorable and bad ass and could honestly take everybody else in the head space with one hand tied behind her back. I want her to make friends with Shilo and Chloe so she can talk about how fun it is to have a group of girls to watch your back.

PBs
DAY 07 - Post pictures of your PBs that would be totally OOC for your character but amuse you anyway.
Edward would never have the balls to handle a gun. Neither, for that matter, would Nina, which while she doesn't-loves her hair too much to cut it all off. Also, Baby wasn't sent to the asylum for talking to herself, and of course..

Fedoras remind Harvey of mobsters. So not happening. About as unlikely as Hoffman playing soccer. Not that he's not open to liking the game mind..

DAY 08 - Post favorite YouTube videos involving your PBs.

I fucking hate fandom, but this was the closest thing to something resembling roles I could find. There ought to be a law that you have to be registered and take a test before you make a fucking fanvid.

DAY 09 - What comes first, the PB or the character?
Really depends on the circumstances. Usually, I pull PB's from fandom characters and just obsessively apply them to originals-and then the connection is made.

LEARNING
DAY 10 - Tell us about something you learned about or researched for a character.

- At this point, I'm pretty sure I can accurately quote the penal code in regards to murder (in California AND New York!)
- I learned how to do thermodynamic calculations, not to mention basic flying operations.
- I can tell you many things about the secret service I should not be practically applying. (and that you probably want to hear)
- I know a hell of a lot about mental disorders and just what it takes to conquer them. (and that's personal knowledge too)
- I know some of the basic strategies and major battles of the Vietnam war.
- I have a working knowledge of Titanic Lore.
- I have a basic knowledge of biotechnology and practical laboratory applications.

DAY 11 - Tell us about something you learned about from someone else's character or a game plot.
Alot of WWII stuff, um...ALOT of basic science and math, not to mention medical stuff from camwyn.

DAY 18 - Favorite type of games.
Active, thought provoking filled with plots. Also character stuff, which is why I am SO EXCITED YOU HAVE NO IDEA for lastvoyages because UNF NUNF. YES.

CHARACTER LISTS
DAY 19 - Pick a character and list the contents of their purse, wallet, backpack, or briefcase. (Or whatever container is applicable.)
I randomly choose Nina, and within her small dainty clutch she has makeup, a light pink lip gloss and nude (skin tone) eyeshadow and concealer. She also has a spare tampon, a box of band-aids, and a small flashlight.

Why she has the flash light has to do with her father.

DAY 20 - Pick a character and list their routine of getting ready in the morning.

-Harvey wakes up at about 5 am. (he always has to set an alarm)
-2 mile run by the river.
-Return, Shower, shave, coif hair.
-Read case files for the day when picking out his suit and tie.
-get on bike, go to work.
-read more case files.

DAY 21 - Pick a character and list what's on their current "to do" list.

1. Buy blood at store.
2. buy plant food for Minature Cybidium
3. Do laundry.
4. Finish weekly report. Submit to Bromley.
5. Record 'Justified' reruns.
6. Call Frankie.
7. Redial Frankie when getting his voicemail.
8 accept that your brother does not want to talk to you and go about your business.
9. Finish "Ten ways to success"
10. Sleep. Maybe.

(Three guesses who this is.)

TIPS AND ADVICE
DAY 22 - Best tip/advice for creating a character.
The biggest things that all the books I've read have said is basically the same thing Courtney said in her post. Listen to your characters, like-quiet your mind and actually listen to them. You know who does this? David Lynch. Take that.

DAY 23 - Best tip/advice for getting your mojo back after getting into an RP funk.
Listen to some kind of music or rewatch their canon. For me, watching their canon again (particularly in Hoffman's case) is enough to get them bitching, if not talking.

Once that's done, I usually take them shopping with me, or imagine them coming somewhere with me just to get their thoughts and opinions.

Only if you can afford it buy something that belongs to the character and keep it with you. That'll get them talking because they'll either say 'I wouldn't own that if you paid me' or 'can I get one of those?'

DAY 24 - Best tip/advice for figuring out what to do when you feel lost with one particular character.
If you don't focus and pay attention to what they want then you have lost them. You have to keep listening to them and actively involve yourself in what they're doing, in their needs and wants. The trick however, is to keep your desires seperate from theirs. (it's no fun if you guys want the same thing)

However if you can train yourself to do that, you'll learn things from them too!

ERAS
DAY 25 - What's your favorite thing about RPing in contemporary times?
....It's easy. And I don't think I have it in me to write common/contemporary law. I was always kind of stuck in the now or in the future. I'm a real futurist.

DAY 26 - What's your favorite thing about RPing in past/historical times?
I honestly tend to avoid it. This is making in jungle hard and requiring alot of research, but if you work at it and think of yourself living IN that time that makes it easy.

Also, bringing people from other times into contemporary times or having them interact with contemporary muses is hilarious. "What do you MEAN WE WENT TO THE MOON' was probably my favorite thread in awhile.

DAY 27 - What's your favorite thing about RPing in future times?
I can let my imagination run wild. I love dystopian stories and urban decay and looking at different stuff that we might have in the future. Heck, I sometimes walk around pretending I'm in the year 2050, complete with floating ads or like, Minority report where your retina is scannable and you can use it to log in like a credit card.

POTENTIAL GAMES
DAY 28 - If a game's premise involves ____, you'll always give it a look.
Character interaction, a good storyline, or just characters from [x] fandom make it awesome. Like lastvoyages has Billy Costigan and Milliways has active AND AMAZING firefly puppets. I'm a big journal stalker, and the larger the cast the better(particularly if it's a cast I want to play in because you're always garunteed CR)

DAY 29 - When investigating a potential game, what things excite you and persuade you to apply?
Pretty much the stuff I mentioned above. It has to be a cast I want to be a part of, it's a bonus if it has a large cast I could belong to (I dream of the day I have a Matthews and a Rigg to interact with-along with an active and interesting Jigsaw and possibly a Perez.)

DAY 30 - What goes into your thought process when choosing a first character to apply for in a game?
- What kind of characters would add interest to the plot and scenario?
- What specifically would they do there?
- can I be active?
- How strong is their head voice anyway?
- Will they have people who they can play with? (so it's a little hard for me to make friends...so what?)

law, me-me, order, cats don't, swans dance, the kids are not all right, babydoll's katana, saw is awesome, and everything in between
