Judging from tonight's weather, apparently Winter hasn't gotten the memo yet from Mama Nature about Spring being here. It was 60 degrees here yesterday, and now there's almost four inches of snow on the ground, with no signs of stopping.

There's an old saying in Rhode Island, that I really hadn't understood until this winter, which goes along the lines of, "If you don't like the weather, eh, just wait about five minutes or so."

Music is a big part of my life, and ties into my everyday comings and goings, so here's some new musical reccomendations for the week. Buy. Download. Listen. Experience.
  • Daft Punk - "Human After All" - The godfathers of electro are back.  I walked into Newbury Comics this week, spotted this on their new releases shelf, and then proceeded to jump up and down.  It's been almost five years I think since they've released a full-length, and they sound better than ever.  Without these guys, the modern electro scene wouldn't be what it is now.
  • Lightning Bolt - "Wonderful Rainbow" - I've had this one for a loooooong time, and have seen them live before, but for some reason I've only come to truly appreciate them a lot lately.  Organized, but beautiful chaos.
  • Mahi Mahi - "He No Wa" - Another Providence band that I've been listening to for a long time, but have just started to really dig a lot more.  Noisy, dancy, chaotic, funny, and not for everyone.  I can't compare them to anything I've heard before.
As well, there's an absolute wide assortment of shows coming to the area that I really want to go to.
  • Wednesday March 30th - mewithoutYou - The Call, Providence
  • Thursday April 7th - Out Hud, Hella - The Living Room, Providence
  • Saturday April 9th - Sonic Youth - Lupos, Providence *Jesus Christ I would kill babies to see Sonic Youth....BABIES!!*
  • Tuesday April 12th - The Locust, Daughters - The Living Room *This one's an obvious definite*
  • Friday April 15th - Hank Williams III, Artimus Piledriver - The Living Room *I haven't been to a rockabilly show in a couple years, since the Amazing Crowns final show, and Hank III is absolutely phenomenal*
  • Friday April 15th - Thr Bravery - Axis, Boston *Shit...decisions...decisions...*
  • Sunday April 17th - Converge - The Living Room
  • Friday April 22nd - Melt Banana, An Albatross, Necronomitron - The Call
  • Saturday April 30th - Mission Of Burma, Mahi Mahi - The Living Room *Hell yeah, the fathers of post-punk.  I'll be there.*
  • Monday May 2nd - DEATH FROM ABOVE 1979 and Controller, Controller - The Middle East, Boston *Holy shit, I need to go to this*
  • Tuesday May 17th - Billy Idol - Lupos *I think everyone should see Billy Idol at least once in their lifetime*
  • Monday May 23rd - Blood Brothers, Plot To Blow Up The Eiffel Tower - The Living Room *!!!!!!!!!!!!!!*
I'm starting to finally feel a little bit better, so I'm thinking of going to the Green Room tomorrow after work and meeting up with Meg.  My district manager is spending the whole day at my store tomorrow, so I have a feeling I'll need a drink.  I also took Saturday night off so an all-day adventure can be had exploring and photographing at Norwich.

EDIT: I just found out that on Friday, May 20th, THE FAINT and BRIGHT EYES are playing a show together at Lupo's. Holy greased monkeys. I have a feeling this one will sell out so I'll need to get tickets soon.
