This is a Reid-centric fanmix that focuses mainly on the darker side of his character.
It spans from the pains of having such a high IQ at a young age to his nightmares when he first joined the BAU back in season 1.
His past use and underlying battle with narcotics.
To the more current fears about his family history of schizophrenia and his constant headaches.
This is only my second fanmix.
All comments and constructive criticism is welcome.
“Measuring Cups” - Andrew Bird
“Get out your measuring cups and we'll play a new game
Come to the front of the class and we'll measure your brain
We'll give you a complex and we'll give it a name.”
“Zombie” - Cranberries
“In your head, in your head, they are dying..
What’s in your head, in your head?”“One More Addiction” - Natalie Imbruglia
“And you're hanging onto me
And I say
Oh oh one more addiction in my world
Oh one more connection to let go
Oh floating down the river
Out of sight forever, from my world…”
This track was put in specifically for “Revelations” & “Fear and Loathing” -
Specifically for Reid’s behavior in the following episodes with the flashbacks to Tobias and subsequent drug use.
“Red Dust” - Iron & Wine
“Dust gets red, and red dust plays
On the wind near Daniel's place
Danny's sick and smaller boy
Rhythm lingers on and on
On and on, on and on
Dust gets dead the sun gone down
Danny's boy lies in the ground
Guitar on the dead boy's chest
Devil's granting a last request
Play on and on, on and on”
This track is also anchored in “Revelations”.
“Against the Grain” - City and Colour
“If you feel, you paid the price and your wounds should cease to heal
and everything you love in life, spins like a winding wheel
if you should wake, to find you're abandoned.
and the road you travel, leads to a dead end
when death creeps in, to play it's part.
you must follow your heart
you must follow your heart.”“Letting the Cables Sleep” - Bush
“You in the dark
You in the pain
You on the run
Living a hell
Living your ghost
Living your end…
Whatever you say it's alright
Whatever you do it's all good
Whatever you say it's alright
Silence is not the way.”“Voices” - Saosin
“We speak in different voice
When fighting with the ones we love
We speak in different voices
Why can’t we say what we’re thinking of?
Not even I will tell…
To know they’re real.
Real!
I’ll never tell.”“This Bitter Pill” - Dashboard Confessional
“And this bitter pill is leaving you with such an angry mouth.
One that's void of all discretion,
such an awful tearing sound.
With it's measure only equal by the power of my stare,
glaring over you and over you this feeling of despair
is never
wearing out.”“Harold Weathervein” - Cursive
“In his head its like the weather
back and forth its like the weather
when it rains it pours down
Weatherman, do you feel?
Is it stormy inside of your veins?”“Card House Dreamer” - This Providence
“I thought I had everything under control.
I couldn't have been more wrong.
I thought I held my world in my hands.
Until it broke and I awoke from this foolish dream.
I put so much of myself in everything else.
Yeah in everything else.
It was a dream come seemingly true.
Torn at the seams revealing a nightmare.”“Lost Realist” - Trapt
“My independence is calling my name
A doubtful voice divides my faith
My independence only hesitates
An unsure choice I can't embrace
You're gonna have to carve me,
Carve me from stone
Right to the bone or
I'll end up alone
Playing the role
Of someone in control.”“Under Pressure” - The Used/My Chemical Romance (Cover of Queen/David Bowie)
“It's the terror of knowing
What this world is about
Watching some good friends
Screaming 'Let me out'
Pray tomorrow - gets me higher high high…
Insanity laughs under, pressure we're cracking
Can't we give ourselves one more chance
Why can't we give love that one more chance
Why can't we give love give love…
'Cause love's such an old fashioned word
And love dares you to care for
The people on the edge of the night
And love dares you to change our way of
Caring about ourselves
This is our last dance
This is ourselves
Under pressure.”
