day three - your favorite television program
There was instantly one thing that comes to mind when I thought of this. That show if (of course) House. I do tend to enjoy the medical drama genre a bit more than the law drama genre, but that's not even the reason I love the show.
Before I jump in with fangirl glee (I'm still reeling a bit from last night) allow me to give you a synopsis:
The show's central character is Dr. Gregory House (Hugh Laurie), an unconventional, maverick medical genius who heads a team of diagnosticians at the fictional Princeton-Plainsboro Teaching Hospital (PPTH) in New Jersey.
Okay that was a lame summary, but still... House is basically a criminal procedural drama (ala CSI) but in a hospital instead of a police department. Every week a patient with odd and mysterious symptoms and House and his team grumble their way through (with a few misdiagnosis along the way.) While some of the cases are truly bizarre, that's not what makes the show so entertaining.
The real reason to watch is the insanely fun characters... one in particular: Dr. James Wilson.
Yes it's Wilson with his pocket protector and sweatervests and adorable (and completely messed up) nature that makes the show for me. I've seen reviewers call Wilson the heart of the show and I fully agree. It's House and Wilson's completely warped (but genuine) relationship that fuels some of the best and most memorable scenes in the series.
Even without my slash-oriented fangirl mind, there is really something about these two that just screams "these people deserve each other." I could spend hours picking out examples. Nothing says friendship quite like a.) secretly drugging someone to prove their depressed! b.) forging your best friends signature on prescriptions for you! c.) attempting to completely sabotage any and all romantic relationships your friend is currently in! Yes... they really do deserve each other. House and Wilson let their guards down around each other and that's what truly makes them so much fun to watch.
It also helps that Hugh Laurie and Robert Sean Leonard are completely and totally adorable in real life.
I've embedded a clip of scenes behind the cut below (I can't get it to not autoplay. Sorry.):
