I haven’t forgotten about my pledge to restyle 52 items in 2011! I’ve just been really sidetracked and have had baby on the brain so not a whole lot of brainstorming for things to restyle has happened (not to mention I cannot yet restyle clothing for myself). I did, however, have a burst of inspiration while the kiddos were out of state on spring break….
I am always stashing cards, drawings and special mementos from the kiddos in random places around our house. I was really getting tired of never being able to find them or store them in a proper way to be cherished. Sadly, I know a few things have fell victim to the kids and have ended up lost or destroyed.
I really want a large chest to store these types of memories in, but alas that isn’t anywhere in our budget and I’ve yet to find one on any of my thrifting adventures. So naturally I decided to make something instead!
I used a big shoebox from Josh’s work boots to make this memory box. I covered the box in a fun cotton print I had leftover in my stash and lined it with muslin. I made the ‘Mommy’s Memory Box’ by printing directly onto the muslin and embellished it with random buttons from my stash.
It’s already almost full (wah!) but at least I have a central location to store my treasures. I figure it will come in mighty handy here in a few weeks!
