At Last!

I hate being sick. I hate it! And I don’t hate very many things! I’m not really sick sick. My hip is acting up really, really severely. It’s more of an injury than an illness, I suppose, but that doesn’t make it any less unpleasant. I skipped work yesterday and spent the entire day on the couch. While this may sound ideal to some people, it drove me bananas. There are only so many things you can do while stuck sitting on the couch. I finished knitting a sock for Josh (yes, just one), painted my nails yellow with red polka dots (Ronald McDonald would be proud), watched 5 movies via Netflix streaming and finally……FINISHED MY CRAFT SWAP ITEMS!!!

All 16 of those puppies are finished!

I am SO super excited to have this done. And a week ahead of schedule! There are only 14 pictured above because I took these before the final two were finished, but oh well. You get the idea: this was a lot of work.

This was my first major embroidery project, my first craft swap and the first time I’ve actually produced more than one of item (yes, seriously). It was a wonderful learning experience and I’m very pleased with how they turned out.

I’ve started working on the tutorial and hope to have it posted within a week or so. The next week looks pretty busy so I’ll just have to see how much I can get done each day.

I decided not to attach the ribbons I purchased (sigh) because they didn’t look as good as I had pictured them in my mind. I have decided, however, to put a little backing on each one. I designed a cute little thingie, which I left on my laptop at home and thus can’t show you, that basically says it was made by me and has my web address, Etsy shop and e-mail address on there. A little shameless self-promotion. I haven’t printed them or attached them yet. I’ll probably do that tonight with hopes of sending them out in the post tomorrow. YAHHHHhhhhh! I can start sewing again, hooray!

I took a mental inventory of my stash yesterday (because it was in the bedroom and, alas, I was on the couch) and I have enough just sitting on my shelves to make at least 11 dresses. A note, for me to consider a piece of fabric to have enough for a dress it must be 3 or more yards in length. That means I have at least 30 yards of fabric sitting in there. That’s not counting the countless pieces I’ve bought just a yard of or whatever for quilting and various other little projects. Clearly, I need to stash bust. Also, the fabric diet I wrote about a couple months ago: complete and utter FAIL.
