Pseudo-busy?

Aug 31, 2009 12:16

I haven’t been writing as much and I have no idea why. It’s not a lack of content or being extremely busy. Well, I have been borderline extremely busy.

Since my last entry quite a bit has happened. We celebrated Oliver’s birthday the evening of the 27th. Josh’s Mom and her boyfriend Tony came over. We had a pizza and presents, but skipped the cake and giving him our gifts to wait for the weekend when we could have more time together. By the time I get home we only have about two hours together and I’d rather enjoy the time than try to cram everything into two hours. Friday was semi-eventful, for me anyhow. I bought a used sewing machine and some fabric for my two Refia costumes. Josh is still on third shift, so I spent time with him until he left around 10:45 and then I started working on my Devout costume. I decided to work on the cloak first since it’s the largest piece of the entire costume. Everything went okay…ish. I had some issues with the sewing machine, but found ways to work around them. I didn’t do too much sewing Friday night since I was so very frustrated with the machine.

Saturday morning Josh and I took the kiddos over to his Mom’s house and spent a few hours alone. We went and picked up our marriage license, had breakfast at the park and went to GameStop to drool over games we want. After that we retrieved the kids, hung out with his Mom for a bit and headed home around 3. I arrived to find Lee’s copy of Final Fantasy IV waiting for me in the mailbox, so take a wild guess what I spent the remainder of my evening doing. Unfortunately, Josh had to work form 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday evening, so I spent that time working on my Devout cloak some more, cursing the sewing machine and doing some housework. I pulled out the couch bed for the first time in forever so Josh and I could lounge in the living room and watch an anime flick called "Whispers of the Heart" (just for the record, it sucked!). He brought home some Berry Weiss and I got a little soused a little too fast.

Woke up WAY too early Sunday, compliments of Oliver. I was so ill Sunday, which I think was part mini-hangover, part stomach bug I was fighting all week. Despite it all we managed to mow the lawn, wash all the laundry (still needsit be put away….yeah), bake cupcakes for Oliver, kick ass in FFIV, and buy Oliver his dream gift (even if we completely hated it). Josh did the mowing and shopping, while I handled the baking, housework, laundry and FFIV ass kicking. We had funfetti cupcakes with vanilla icing and sprinkles. Oliver helped with the icing and sprinkles and loved it. I took some pictures and uploaded them to my laptop, but kind of didn’t manage to upload them to net yet to share. I blame Final Fantasy. Regardless, I’ll post them this evening. We were all pretty wiped out by 8:30 p.m. Sunday evening; bedtime was a breeze and Josh and I ended up going to bed considerably early.

…and now it’s Monday again. Ugh. The weather is so very nice right now. I’m not sure if it’s going to stay this way, but I’ll be a little weirded out of it does. It’s as if there wasn’t a transition between the seasons. It was kind of like opening the Summer door and walking right through into Autumn. The leaves are even starting to change a little. The bad part about this time of the year for us is the difference in the temperature between night and day. When we wake up in the morning and get ready for work/school it’s usually still in the mid/low-50s, meaning we’re all a little chilly and the kids want to put on their pants and long sleeves; but by around noon it’s back to being fairly warm, thus leaving me feeling like I dressed the kiddos inappropriately.

Plans for this week: pay some bills, close a bank account, housework, play FFIV, work more on the costume(s), look forward to the coming 3-day weekend and kid-free Saturday evening.

Other random stuff:
Since it’s the end of the month, here’s my Greader stats for the past month: "From your 45 subscriptions, over the last 30 days you read 7,004 items, starred 2 items, shared 79 items, and emailed 1 items." Because I love data, that’s roughly 233 articles a day. Which is either terrifying or a testament to my lack of a life. Or both!

I forgot to mention what Oliver’s gift that we hate was: a double barrel Nerf shotgun. I hate toy guns and Josh isn’t a fan of toy guns for kids (but he has played with Oliver’s gun quite a bit already). Oliver loves it and has been fairly responsible with it so for, so we’ll see…

Aion Open Beta beings September 6th, which means I have to beat FFIV before that. Must!

Oliver is doing a great job with his handwriting lately! He asked me to verbally spell my name for him this weekend and managed to write it quite well! (Ignore the random letters around it. He loves to doodle random letters when he’s bored.)
