wow at this guy's style... it's almost like he took all his subjects and inflated them with an air mattress pump - this one reminds me of the infamous bowler painting:
my gut instinct says he finds fuller figures more rich and saturated with life more so than the stick figures we prodominantly see, maybe they're more fun to paint. in classic figure renderings, *i* certainly didn't see one skinny tart, and this guy sure spent a sufficient amount of time in italy (where i think a good majority of his style was influenced). i like the fact that he's painting his current subject matter - it's really refreshing to see an artist use their medium as their voice so powerfully. and what's funny is artists used their art to communicate for centuries when speaking of certain things would get them killed, so they alluded to things in their paintings..
