So, there's probably two feet of snow outside the apartment I'm staying in for the next seven weeks, and more on the way. The temps are not supposed to get above freezing, and may go down to the negatives. Honestly, I'm glad I don't have to worry about my car, and everything is within walking distance. The snowshoes will be put to good use, and I wish I had them as I was walking to the supermarket today. Someone else had skis, which was fortuitous, as that meant there was a semi-packed down path to follow and less stomping through mounds of fluffy snow.
I also had a rather fat looking deer bounding through my front yard this afternoon.
Anyway, life for the next seven weeks:
I shall be studying mycorrhizal fungi. Most of you who know me in person know far more about them than you ever wanted at the moment, and by the end of spring semester my brain will be overflowing.
Hopefully, as I know several other people who are staying up here for Field Work Term, there will be dinner nights at various people's residences. I am looking forward to this.
In other news, I have discovered that I don't mind oatmeal, and may actually grow to like it.
