I don't understand fandom goggles.
In what way would he be considered fat? The same way that fanfic writers call Kirk blond? Lack of rippling abs on display = unfit? Same thing with this kid, despite the fact that he stripped down to a singlet in an early episode and everything was flat:

It's women writing most of these stories, so what gives? Is it that they want to write a fic where the unpopular fat kid gets the hunky jock (as if Mckay's personality isn't enough of a hurdle), or is it that anything other than a "perfect" body is immediately a target? Why does this bother me so much when I see it? It's more common than not. I'm not the skinniest bitch on the planet, but I'm pretty happy about myself, and I don't care about a little extra padding on someone else-- but this really makes me wonder about people's perceptions of others, and the unrealistic expectations of beauty that we have.
