Robert Aspirin and Erick Wujcik in the same month. Sad times.

True geek points to those who know who Mr. Wujcik is btw.

The swimsuit issue of Rifter dedicated to him seems kinda tacky to me, but so be it.

I loved TMNT, liked Ninjas and Superspies, and thought Amber diceless was okay. He had his fingers in a lot of other stuff too. Met him and he seemed a decent fellow besides.

I am not sure whether I think losing Wujcik or losing Asprin is worse. It generally sucks that they are gone.

I loved Amber, liked TMNT and thought N&S was Ok ;) Then again, Amber is one of my favorite worlds of all time, so that's hardly surprising. The swimsuit issue seems a bit much.

Hard to quantify worse, but I do think the world is a different and lesser place for their passing.

Okay, I have to ask why is the world a lesser place for their passing?

From my perspective they have already done their input to the system. They made a mark, and then faded away. Its not like there aren't imaginative people out there who are working on new things, who have their fingers into a lot of works.

*shrug* perhaps because I never really played most of those systems means that it doesn't mean as much to me....but they died and moved on. *shrug* I just don't see the world as a lesser place.

*shrug* Because they weren't done creating yet? The world ebbs and flows, and yes, it grows when new things come in, and shrinks when old things go away...

I think the world is a lesser place when anyone dies, even if it's not really measurable.

*laugh* I saw Marshall being unhappy with the swimsuit Rifter too.

I suppose it depends on the man and the nature of his relationship with the people doing it. From my own personal opinion, I think that a swimsuit edition of, well, anything would be amazingly cool if people did that for me when I die. I mean, it just fits with me and my personality....and I know others who would also find it a hysterical homage....

...on the other hand if he was the type of person who would have found it tacky, and his relationship with those involved wasn't especially close, then I suppose it would be tacky.

*shrug* never met the guy, never really played any of his systems, but I hope that in whatever form he's in he gets a kick out of people remembering him in a swimsuit edition of the Rifter.....

I think Marshall had more of an issue with all his stuff being auctioned off to support Palladium. That was a whole day ago though, so my memory could be failing me. It does that.

Nope, you were right. Maybe I should have checked before posting... Anyway, by all indications Kevin and Erick were good friends so I can't imagine Kevin would give the okay unless he thought Erick would have approved.
