I have actually never heard of Swinburne before, which is very unfortunate methinks. If it's really due to criticisms from T.S. Eliot, then it's all the more reason for me to despise the latter said man. Guh... no me gusta. No me gusta at all. How can one write a poem as The Wasteland which purposely breaks all rules of poetry, and then turn around and criticize another man for doing poetry "wrong"? GUUUUH BURNS MY BISCUITS. But I must digress...
Swineburne here has a very lovely vision of the Underworld, and I think his admiration for the myth speaks for itself in the writing. In turn, I admire the way he can turn out such rich and original descriptions while following the more traditional format of poetry. I definitely let out a small sigh of contentment at the end. Because everything was done SO RIGHT. Ahhh, thanks for sharing this, Eldr.

It's true that it's amazing that Swinburne still has awesome poetry while still following all the rules! That can be even harder, although sometimes free verse can be harder because there's no guarantee it will even sound like a poem when you're done.
Thanks for reading! :)
