The city in the sky...
For real. Walk along the streets of El Dorado, and every so often you'll find one that appears to be made of glass, revealing nothing but blue skies and the occasional cloud underneath of it. These special pieces of sidewalk are uncrackable, unbreakable, and unalterable by the citizens of the city. They're just for show. Don't worry about stepping on them.
Buildings within the city have a distinct neoclassical (specifically Beaux-Arts) influence, but are equipped with the technology of the 21st century. Air conditioning, heat, plumbing, wireless communication. And if you're wondering about the gold accents adorning many of the buildings? Yes, it's all real, but try to remove it at your own risk.
There are easier ways of making money. Take a job at a local business, start one of your own, or find a service that you can provide for the city. Your necessities are free, and may randomly appear and disappear when you least expect them to. That slice of pie you were saving for dessert may be gone, but check your closet. You may find a new winter coat waiting for you. Or, you may not. It depends on how kind the gods are feeling on that particular day.
In any case, you'll be well taken care of. Your suite in the Nuage Estate has already been customized for you. In your closet, you will find your clothes from home. Check your desk and you'll find your checkbook, balance intact. Don't try to move out of the building; anyone who has lived in the city for a while knows that you don't leave until they let you. Residential housing may come in time, if you behave yourself.
As for what comforts your new home may offer you...well, that's where it gets a little tricky. You'll have an indoor pool, hot tub, theater room, a kitchen stocked to feed the small army of citizens living there, tennis and basketball courts, and several other surprises waiting for you. Nice, but not as nice as what's out in the city. Restaurants, nightclubs, shopping areas, park, outdoor skating rink...the list goes on.
Luckily, all of those locations will be hiring in the near future. If you're running low on money, you will have opportunities to earn some within the city.
If you venture out of the city, you will find a forest, inhabited by animals of the planet earth. Most are harmless, but not all of them, so please be careful. The Gods can't be bothered with saving you if something goes wrong.
the gods & npcs ❖
There are six gods that rule over El Dorado. The original six who decided to place the city in the sky. Of course these are just the myths that surround them. They are the same Gods told of in every religion, just a different story. Each of them has two forms in which they take when addressing the members of the city - if they feel like they should.
Chiminigagua: Creator God
The god of creation, who wanted to create a beautiful light show. Unfortunately, he hadn't created humans yet, so no one ever saw it.
Bachué: Great Fertility Snake Goddess
A snake goddess from the Great Lake. She grew a humanoid top and gave birth to a son. Who she then mated with to create life (yes, it's weird).
Cuza: God Like The Night
One of the ruling gods of El Dorado.
Bochica: Creator God of Morals and Laws
An old man with a beard, a golden staff and amazing creative teaching abilities. He taught the natives of the world the laws of good and evil.
Nemcatacoa: Protector of the Loom
One of the ruling gods of El Dorado.
Chibchachum: He who holds up the Earth
The more emotional teacher than Bochia, he sent the Great Flood in a fit of anger no one listened to him. Bochia saved humanity, and Chibchachum was then sent to hold up the Earth from the underworld upon his shoulders.
These are the creators of the universe. They've brought you here with the hope of restoring their world to what it once was. Play nice, or they will be forced to intervene.
Trust us, you wouldn't agree with their idea of a fair punishment.
Beyond the Gods, there are others that walk and hold the street of El Dorado.
Citizens: People who have come before you to the city, chosen by the Gods. They have made a living and a life in the city. They are completely content with staying in the city and are free to interact with you whenever you need them.
The Receptionist: The woman who works at the front desk of the Central Mansion. She is there to speak for the Gods to you. When you arrive she is the one that gives the living arrangements, the
cell phones and will mention when any new changes are made to the city by the Gods (such as rewards or events). If you ever need her, just give her a shout out. She'll answer you on the phone or in the Mansion.
