002: [location: Mansion's Bar] If you can just get your mind together, then come on across to me.

Avoiding bars those first couple of days had been only natural, and Damon had been content to have his usual requirement of booze sent up to his room instead of dealing with the masses. He went out when he needed to, and found himself cracking open the tap of a warm human body a little more often than the bagged stuff. It made him feel better, even though it was a little on the dangerous side.

Who the hell cared, anyway.

And on some of these outings, Damon broke into some of the more official looking buildings around the city. Just to see what he could find on this hellhole that'd not only kidnapped him and stuck him with Caroline, but'd taken from him as well. Granted, it'd been someone who could be on occasion just as irritating as Caroline, but he would've definitely traded the blonde for Ric.

Alright. Maybe he most likely wouldn't've. Maybe he would've rathered dangling her in front of that invisible dog to amuse himself for a bit, and then got them both out of there. But she didn't need to know that.

Regardless, those searches, and the inevitable ransackings some of them had turned into, had yielded nothing. Which was what had led Damon down to the bar at last, to be among people who looked more pathetic than he felt. Another thing to make him feel better. That, and the tall glass of bourbon sitting in front of him. But it wasn't enough.

Damon sighed, jaw set tightly against what he wanted to do. It couldn't be avoided, but if he couldn't get back the only real friend he'd had in a very long time, then he needed some way to get what was his. Preferably by ripping apart his captors, but they'd have to see.

He dug his cellphone out of his pocket, and with another annoyed sigh, Damon sent out a text.

To: Sasha Hoffman
From: Damon Salvatore

So. I care.

Pocketing the cellphone again, Damon chugged down the last of his drink, motioned to the waitress, and sat back to wait. And watch. And get that much more drunk, should the waiting take long enough.

Agitate the drunk vampire at your own risk.
