He stopped and looked over his shoulder when he heard a door slam shut. No one was having an argument, and he didn't hear any running. He glanced around before quickly edging to the door that had been slammed. He pressed his ear against the door, hearing the erratic breathing. Great, someone was going to have a cardiac arrest at this rate. Peter opened the door and looked down to find Cassie on the floor, balled up.
"...Cassie?"

When she heard her name, she opened her eyes, blinking away the beginnings of tears and looked up to find the paramedic...nurse...whatever. Peter. The superhero.
"Oh....hey," Cassie said, trying to sound not at all awkward and failing at it.
How do you play off cowering in a closet? You don't.

He glanced over his shoulder then squatted down in front of her. Alright, Cassie was a pretty tough girl. She took a beam to the back and walked around the hospital. So, why was she cowering in a closet? It seemed pretty opposite of what she was.
"I think we're kind of too old for blanket forts."

Cassie huffed, "Yeah, I'm used to it. But it scares the shit out of me!" She looked up at him. "I know it doesn't make sense, but when I came back from getting lunch, I opened the door and he was just...sitting there. Waiting for me. And I thought he was gonna eat my face off! So I ran."
