The sound of the man's voice caused Inara to jump a little, mainly because that wasn't the sort of thing she'd really expected to be hearing anyone say to her.

Picking up her phone, she stared at it for a moment before she finally replied. "I believe you've managed to call the wrong person."

Connor was distracted for a moment longer.

"Stupid piece of sh- What?" He found his phone then. "'Lo? Who's this?"

Inara's lips pulled into a smile before she replied. "I'm Inara, Inara Serra. And might I ask who this is?"

Now that was an impressive name, if he'd ever heard one.

"Name's Connor Temple. Can I help you with somethin'?" It seemed as though Connor was unaware of his mistake.

Inara's smile widened and she couldn't help but laugh a little bit.

"I believe it was you who called me. So I think it should be me asking what I can do for you."

"What?" He said, looking at the phone as if it was foreign. "Pretty sure I didn't." But after a moment of thinking about it, he realized that it wasn't impossible. "Sorry. Must've bumped it. Didn't mean t'trouble you."

"No, it's really perfectly alright," Inara assured him. "You didn't trouble me at all. I was just a little confused is all."

"You an' me both." He chuckled, a bit nervous. He didn't want to make any enemies in the city, of course, and making a few friends along the way couldn't hurt anything.

"Still, I want to make it up to you. Name it. Anythin' you want." He paused. "I don't mean that all creepy or anything."

"That's very sweet of you," Inara said with a smile. It was, considering it had been an honest mistake. It would have been completely different if he'd called in order to harass her. "But completely unnecessary. Mistakes happen all the time."

"Still want to." He insisted. "Can't hurt anythin' right?" He paused to think of something easy. "Dinner, for instance. Everyone eats. You eat, right? And company is great. Unless you don't want to." He wondered if he should have just hung up the phone before he started in on this whole mess.

Inara laughed. "Of course I eat. And I'd be honored to eat dinner with you." She sat down on her bed, smoothing the material of her dress around her legs. "When's a convenient time for you?"

"About an hour?" Connor knew he'd have to make himself presentable. It wasn't a date or anything, but he knew better than to think he could just show up in a robe and make a new friend. Besides, she sounded nice. "We could meet in the lobby. Find a nice place in the city? I know of a diner, but we could try somethin' new."

"An hour in the lobby then," Inara agreed, rising to her feet so she could head over to her closet to find appropriate clothing. "I'm sure the diner will be more than perfect. Any place will be actually." She paused for a moment, her free hand skimming over the soft items in her closet. "And Connor? Thank you for inviting me."
