Daniel was unaware of the dangerous events happening out in the city. He was unaware of practically everything except for the soft sound of pages turning and the scratch of his pen again the half-filled pad of paper. He had been researching everything he could about the city, about the gods, and about the history of this place. So far, he was filling in a lot of holes with conjecture, but at least it felt like he was finally getting somewhere.
"...But it doesn't make any sense." He mused aloud to himself, taking off his glasses and pinching the bridge of his nose. "If the gods wanted this city for their chosen, why are we here? Why not keep the natives and let them live in peace?" With a huff, he slid his glasses back on and grabbed the next book, flipping past a few pages before stopping to run his finger down to the middle of the page. He paused and read for a moment before jotting down a few more notes. The process was fairly 'lather, rinse, repeat' from there on.
