001 | Hitting the ground | Location: The Lobby

Aug 04, 2010 21:56

The quiet of the lobby was interrupted by Sookie's screams as she quickly realized that she had gone from laying in a hospital bed to sitting on a couch, still in the blue and white gown that she had been wearing back home. Unfortunately, her gown was the only thing that seemed to have made it with her; all of her friends were gone.

Bill was gone, too.

And unlike her last dream, Claudine wasn't there to calm her. There was no dancing, no pond, no peace. If anything, Sookie was frightened and had to force her mouth closed as she looked around, taking in her surroundings. The few people who were walking around the lobby seemed happy to stare at her, but all of them were as unfamiliar to her as her surroundings. She didn't know how she had gotten to this new place, or why.

It sure wasn't peaceful enough to be a dream.

"What the - shit," she sighed, looking down at her sore arm and noticing the bandage there. Then she reached up, letting her fingertips trace over a similar bandage on her neck. Her body was still healing from what Bill had done to her, but in a few minutes she'd be good as new. Better than.

It was too bad that vampire blood couldn't fix a broken heart. As strong as she felt, Sookie was still reeling from how Bill's instincts had taken over in the van. Even though she knew how dangerous vampires were, she had never thought that his first instinct would be to hurt the woman who had saved his life. Bill loved her, so how could he do that?

The events of her long day compounded with the fear of the new place that she had been taken to, and Sookie rubbed her eyes her eyes and swallowed hard, trying to force herself to stay strong so that she could find a way home. Alcide was in danger because of her. Tara might not have been safe even if she did get home. They needed her.

And as much a she wanted to storm the desk and demand some answers, Sookie couldn't bring herself to do it just yet. She needed a minute to breathe, and then she'd go over.

As soon as everyone stopped looking at her like she was crazy.
