|01| the lobby

Jul 29, 2010 02:49

It was weird, Jessica at one moment had been closing up Merlotte's and the next...well there she was. Standing in the...lobby? Looking around her eyes caught all the sights around her as she absorbed in the information. It was indeed a lobby for something. At first she nervously sat on one of the couches and took a deep breath, she needed to calm ( Read more... )

Eric came in from his little nightly stroll, something he'd begun undertaking to get the feel of the city he was now apparently stuck in. So far, it hadn't yielded too many results. At least, not in the way of getting out of there. But at least there'd been some lovely pieces of architecture.

Moving across the threshold, he caught the scent before he actually saw her. As the door swung shut behind him, Eric's head snapped up.

"... No." Yes.

It was Jessica, sitting there and looking like... Jessica. With a uniform for that restaurant Sookie was working at.

What was next, Bill?

Just as she was starting to panic she turned around and saw the viking vampire standing there. The look on his face was not a pleased one.

"Eric! Where the heck are we?" She asked as she moved towards him, confused look on her face.

"Stop." Eric held a hand up to slow the girl's rushing towards him, and looked to the front desk. No Receptionist. Of course. The woman picks now to take a break.

"This is El Dorado." That never got less irritating to say. "You have been brought here by gods. For some strange reason." If they were supposed to deserve what they got, if this was supposed to be some kind of gift, then Eric had to wonder what Jessica was doing there.

Maybe some sort of consolation for being turned. Or maybe he'd been right when he'd been kidding about this being hell after all. One of the two. "We cannot leave, the city's in the sky. I'm not sure how high up." And flying got him absolutely nowhere. Literally.

"El Dorado...wasn't that a cartoon movie?" Jessica asked as she stood there confused for a moment. But the fact that she was in a strange place over came her and she found herself hugging the elder vampire.

"Thank god you showed up! I dunno what to do, Eric." The words all came out in a rush as she hugged him tighter. This so would not end well.

Eric's eyes bulged in his skull on contact, his arms shooting out at his sides instinctively, his back straightening. He looked down at the head of red hair that was practically glued to his chest. And he regretted even less his decision to stick Bill with her in the first place.

"Let go." The order was clear, carrying a hint of growl to it. She had ten seconds, he was counting them off inside his head. "Now. And compose yourself." Ten seconds, and then he'd pry her off and toss her into the nearest chair.

If she cried, that'd confirm it. This was definitely hell.

"Oh, gosh! I'm so sorry, I just got all excited cos I know I'm not alone!" It all came out in a rush and she hugged him tighter before pulling back. Looking up at him she had a big ol' smile on her lips. She was happy to see him.

"Are Bill and Sookie here too? Oh! What about Pam?" She placed her hands behind her back and hopped on her heels excitedly.

She was still hugging him. And still assuming he cared about her babbling. Why did she always do that? "Unfortunately, it seems as though it is just us, for the moment." Unfortunate indeed.

Looking at the small space between them, Eric reached out, placed a hand on Jessica's shoulder, and pushed her back a few steps. "Stay there. And do not hug me ever again." Since she hadn't seemed to get the point earlier.

"Speak with the Receptionist and get your cellphone and room key." He nodded to the desk, sighing. For better or worse, he'd have to keep an eye on her. Otherwise, given her past track record, they would both be dealing with the entire city attempting to put stakes through their hearts because Jessica just had to bite some random innocent.

Pam was never this much trouble.

Jess let out a defeated sigh and looked up at Eric. "I don't like this, not one bit." Turning on her heel she marched up to the receptionist desk and waited for the woman showed up. She told the woman her name and was surprised when she was given a gold cell phone and a room key. Only time she had ever had a cell had been when she had stolen one from that man in Dallas.

Swallowing a sudden lump in her throat she headed towards the elevators to find her room. She didn't want to bug Eric anymore. He seemed angry that she had even showed up there. Well, it wasn't like it was her fault or anything.

At least they both agreed on something. Eric folded his hands in front of himself as he looked on, waiting calmly for Jessica to retrieve El Dorado's usual welcome package.

Then he noticed the look. And the swallow. And she kept walking. Eric grimaced, and shot to the elevators, standing next to her at the door. He hit the button. "What is your room number?" Did she have to cry?

He actually caught her off guard when he ran up next to her. "Oh...um." She paused to look at the room number on the key. "112." Walking past him she stepped into the elevator and waited for him to follow.
