Now, usually when the Doctor knew someone was talking about him? His ears would burn. Metaphorically of course. And usually he didn't want people to talk about him behind his back. Though, in the case of El Dorado, he certainly hoped someone was talking behind his back. That meant he was making enough of a scene to get the attention of their ( Read more... )

"Ummm, whatcha doin'?"

The question came from behind the Doctor and off to the left a little. Death had gone to get herself one of those delicious pastries from the bakery a few blocks away, and had, in tow, yet another box of delicious, flaky things to give to her friends.

She came upon the Doctor with a megaphone. Which was...unusual. Him with his sonic screwdriver or some strange gadget that bleeped and blooped, that was usual. But just a megaphone? Odd, to say the least.

"'Ello, Death," the Doctor said without turning to face her, "I'm working! What's it look like I'm doing?"

He turned back to his in-progress sonic microphone. He was determined to get through the walls of the Central Mansion. He wanted to see what made this place tick. Sure, he could of gone and asked Sylar, but what would be the fun in that? It was like looking at the back of a text book for answers on homework!

The Doctor glanced up at her and her box. Looked like it came from a bakery. Did she live in a bakery now?

"What's that then? Going to go and feed the local population some sweets?"

"It looks like you're holding a megaphone for reasons beyond my understanding. And I've got some pretty impressive understanding," Death chuckled.

When he looked over, she opened the box, tilting it towards him, showing a variety of pastries, from scones to donuts to spudnuts, if he felt like being adventurous.

"Not the local population. You. Well, not just you. You, Rose, Connor. A few others. The people I like," Death grinned.

He glanced at the pastries then up at her. Did she honestly expect a Time Lord to sit and eat a pastry given to him by the embodiment of death?

Hopefully she did, because that is exactly what he did. That jelly filled one? Gone.

"Don't know a Connor." the Doctor said offhandedly. "Rose likes the ones with sprinkles. 'Least she did when we traveled together. And you're clever, Death, but not as clever as a Time Lord. It's a sonic megaphone! Or it will be once I'm done calibrating the matrix. Hope I don't have to reverse the flippin' polarity. Again."
