Noah was doing his best to be quiet. Really, he was. He was tiptoeing across the floor and he was whispering when he spoke and he was making sure not to make any extra noise if he could absolutely help it. He was staying as far away from the bedroom as he could manage, too. He didn't want to wake up his dad until Claire said it was time. If he did, then the surprise would be ruined. Yet as quiet as Noah was being, he also had his doubts if it was even worth it.
His dad was, by far, the smartest man that he knew. He probably already had figured out that Claire was planning something for his birthday. Which meant that while she was busy trying to get everything ready and Noah was busy trying to be extra quiet, there was a good chance that his dad already knew what was going on and was just faking sleeping.
Just in case he wasn't, though, Noah crept slowly and oh-so-softly down the hallway as he exited the bathroom. He didn't even look toward the bedroom door. He simply clenched his hands into fists at his side and silently made his way back to where he'd left Claire just a few minutes earlier.
"Are you done now?" the boy questioned as he got far enough away from the bedroom door that he figured he was out of earshot. He did his best to whisper though, just in case.
Blinking, large brown eyes flickered up to meet the blond's gaze. His lips curved into a small smile. "Is it time? Can I wake him up?" He bounced a bit on the balls of his feet with excitement.
