Physical Activity and Inactivity

It occurs to me that recently I've been a lot more physically active than I can recall being for quite a while. I helped ethel move a few days back. There was all the running around on stage for Watching Porn (not to mention all the furniture/set piece moving.) I saw the celluloid joy of Snakes on a Plane (which wasn't all that physical, but damn enjoyable). And I did some actual jock-like behavior.

Saturday I played basketball. Yes, basketball. biscuitpig organized a small b-ball tournament between improv duos in the Twin Cities area. No, B-Pig and I did not win any games. Yes, at times it was more assketball than basketball. But it was fun and actually not embarassing. I managed to sink a number of baskets that impressed me anyway. It's weird. Sports are a lot more fun when they're done between people with no athletic ability. All that pecking order bullshit gets forgotten.

Sunday I visited the parental units and we went to the Steele County Free Fair. It's become kind of an annual thing. The Steele County Fair is basically the State Fair, only smaller. Which sounds stupid and obvious, unless you've been to other county fairs and noticed how nothingy they really are. We ate spamburgers, oohed over horses, watched a guy get shot out of a cannon, charitably gambled, and admired antique farm equipment. Lots of walking was done, and when I got home I crashed in front of BBC America and ShakespeaRe-Told, and decided to spend the night.

So, yeah, lots of physical activity for the normally sedentary me. And I'm surprisingly unsore. Mostly I'm just stiff, I could use some hard pounding Swedish massage.

But the inactivity continues. Still no job. I've kind of given up on Entegee at this point. If the client company doesn't bother to get back to Entegee on whether I suit their needs or not, I can't imagine said company is going to treat me all that well. Which sucks. I really appreciated Entegee's lack of faux chipperness, and potential higher pay they offered. Begging was done to the 'rental units, and I've been helped out some, but I'm so damn sick of doing that. I'm too damn old to act and feel like a college student.
