Heading into one COLD weekend

Jan 16, 2008 22:44

Cold, cold and COLDER! The warm weather is long gone and an artic blast is headed our way. Well, really the beginning of it is HERE...but the worst is yet to come. Dropped 20 degrees since yesterday, due to drop 20 more today. BRRRRR!

Boxed my much loved 'fish' stoneware today. I do so love these dishes. They are bright, fun and perfect for a casual summer evening overlooking the sea...sigh. Homesick! I always get homesick this time of year.

But I have plenty to keep me busy. Made a great new dish tonight from a recipe in one of my old cookbooks...and even the kids liked it. YAY! Simple too...gnocchi, heavy cream, half a can of pumpkin (NOT pumpkin pie mix...just pumpkin), and cheese! Bakes up so pretty and a good way to sneak yet another good vegie down the spawn, mwaa haa haa!

Going to try (once I escape the weekend and kids are back to school and less prone to 'helping' me) to empty and box one cabinet or closet etc each day. Five or Six a week. That should get a lot out of the way and safely stored in the garage before long and each empty place makes it a little easier to keep things cleaned up.

Found the missing duvet cover for my down comforter! YAY! and just in time to keep these southern bones from freezing :) Of course this means ALL the kids tried to pile into my bed last night, LOL. No mere blanket can compare to the sheer coziness of a nice thick squishy wonderfully warm down comforter.

Hope you have something (or someone) to keepy you cuddly and warm on this cold winter night.
