Give me a reason to believe in my party again! I am sick to death of feeling the slightest bit ashamed to say I am Republican, but I can't ignore the party has gotten away from what it used to be about.
We have a guiding principle where I work, "Are you gonna talk about it or you gonna be about it?" Sarah darlin', you are selling yourself on your small town values and principled ethics, but with an ethics investigation hanging over you right now; I can't in good conscience back you 100% and that pisses me off! Because when you were up there thunderin' away on that stage in St. Paul, I couldn't help but listen--you were phenomonal. And I know you do live what you say in one area; I have nothing but respect for Bristol keeping the kid and being a grown up about the consequences of a stupid decision. But again, the ethics investigation into abuse of power;when you are a heartbeat away from the most powerful position on the planet, the ethics need to be there across the board. You can't call yourself a Paladin, you can't call yourself a Christian without your deeds coming under a microscope, and you can't shift your stance just because it's convienent at the time. Bottom line, if you're gonna be a maverick, be a maverick. Let me be crystal clear on one thing, I am not perfect nor do I expect my President and VP to be such. I am human with my strengths and my weaknesses, my failings and my celebrations. But a couple lessons I've learned: when you screw up, be a person of some moral fiber and admit it and fix it! And as I mentioned earlier, you can't pick and choose what ethics and principles you will embrace at what time . . .either you do or you don't.The time-tested saying holds true ; actions speak louder than words ever will.
Another sales lesson: Never let an opprotunity pass you by. You got a hell of a head start in impressing me Govenor Palin, but one thing I have yet to hear from either you or Senator McCain are specfics for this grand plan to change America. Because y'all are right about one criticial thing: things HAVE to change. I'm sick of being exicted about paying 3.30 for a gallon of gas (and that's cheap!); I am sick of hearing about the passing of wiretapping bills when they go so clearly go against an important document called the Constitution; I am sick of paying through the nose to get groceries. I don't want my taxes that get hacked out of my paycheck every two weeks to go crazy and unneeded government projects i.e. the bridge to nowhere. And a stronger national defense . . .how about we fix the problems that are running rampant in the country and find ways to get out of the two wars we are in honorably and get our men and women back home before we think about beefing up the armed services that has been the envy of the world for what, two centuries now? September 11th happened, and it was atrocious and bloody and absolutely horrific, but to constantly mention it and to use that as your rationale to circumvent the Constitution goes against everything that the American government was meant to be! Franklin's words ring truer than ever that "those who would give up their liberties in favor a little security deserve neither liberty nor security." Again, let me be clear on something . . .do I support the troops, HELL YES! All branches, with everything in me. I have friends serving and fighting and dying; and they made that decision and I could not be more proud of the troops if I tried.
Govenor Palin, you said you loved a good fight; you said you were a pit bull wearing lipstick and were more than ready to embrace the challenge of the fight. I will reiterate what I said last night before I heard you speak, "Show me whatcha got, girl."
And on a more mundane note, time to do final scans and get the heck out of dodge!
