Character Name: Watanabe Osamu
Age: 417
Race: Black Mage
Kingdom: Neither (but lives in Raytin, Verbves)
Appearance & personality: Osamu looks around 40 years old. He has almost white hair (really light brown) and a sutbble. His eyes are hazy brown. He's around 187 cm tall.
A carefree mage who doesn't seem to take much anything seriously. He often jokes around and makes it seem like nothing's wrong with the world. If you need a serious opinion, you shouldn't ask him first. Osamu can get serious though, but he does that rerely. Life's too short (even for a mage) to go through seriously.
His character changes a lot when he gets serious. His usual smile is gone and he has a determined look in his hazy eyes. Usually his serious mode doesn't last for long and he is known to train-battle half-seriously most of the time. There are only a few things that make him completely serious.
Normally Osamu is very lazy. The normal position for him is sitting on his lazy butt or lying on the grass somewhere. If he's forced to move around, he doesn't run; he usually walks at his own pace or uses a horse to get from place to place. He may seem like he's "good for nothing", he is actually quite skilled. Even though his training took longer than it was supposed to, he mastered every area of it. He was also able to learn White magic without any tutoring, even though forbidden.
History: Osamu has had a long life. He was born in a village that had no name at the time. Now it's known as Cicex of Raytin. Back then they were a small community of mages who lived a peaceful life. Then the village people wanted to explore the world and make use of their skills to others. At the same time Osamu chose to start learning Black Magic from one of the greatest teachers of the time.
His time as a student lasted for 55 years, which is more than the normal amount. This was because he was being lazy most of the time and often slept instead of training. His teacher was old and kindhearted, so he didn't mind too much. After "graduating" Osamu's teacher left the world, giving one last advice to his student. "Live free and enjoy it". Osamu took the advice to heart and continued living his carefree life.
Yet, things changed. His family became ill with a disease. At the time there were no white mages around and searching for them would have been a waste of time in Osamus opinion. That's why he took action into his own hands and started learning White magics by himself, even though it was a taboo. He was too late, however, since his family members passed away before he was able to help.
Rumours about a Black mage learning the wrong magic spread. Osamu tossed the blame at someone else through easy manipulation and burned all the evidence that could have proved him to be the one. Then he left Cicex, never to come back. The effects of the taboo appeared a year later. Making his lifespan shorter for good.
Years later he started to work for the Mage council and got a young, talented mage as his student. Yuushi was eager to learn. Even more than magic. Osamu did his best with the young one. After that he received a few other students, but none were as good.
Then he was promoted as a council elder. His teaching days were over and he was able to relax and take things more calmly again. Even during the first war he was just a bystander, since he had no interest in joining the fight.
Now he's thinking of finding a way to break the taboo between Black and White mages once and for all. But that would mean traveling, so he is still taking it easy for now.
Other information: He's sworn not to use White magic again, unless there's a real emergency. And sometimes he uses it on himself, if he doesn't want to go to a doctor.
