How Time Flies

So the work day drew to a close. As usual, I went to visit The LA Times to check out the current traffic conditions and to plan my drive home. A miss click brought up the day's Sudoku puzzle and I decided, what the heck, let's try it out.

OK, next time I decide to try something out on a whim, be sure to check the difficulty rating before proceeding. Being a complete retard, I didn't take note of the full 5 star rating of this puzzle.

After the first two unsuccessful iterations, I open up an Excel spread sheet to better help me visualize and keep track of how I was progressing. Yeah, I made good use of color codes and cell locks. In any case, some 2 1/2 hours later, I finally finish the sucker.

They say that these mental puzzles are supposed to be good for cognitive and visual reasoning. I don't know about that, but I did have a satisfying "Who's your daddy now?" moment after getting everything to work out properly.

There's something distinctly satisfying of taking on a (pseudo) difficult task, beating your head up against it for awhile, and finding a solution.

Now if I could only get those 2 1/2 hours back, I've got a ton of stuff that still needs to be completed. Oh yeah, that's right... better go check the traffic report so I can get home lickidy split.
