So here's this ongoing Let's Play. Dangan Ronpa is, approximately, Battle Royale meets Cry Wolf/Mafia with some Ace Attorney thrown in. And an amazing villain! It's almost certainly never going to be officially localized, and this LPer is translating the whole thing for everyone's good, so we all owe it to him(?) to read it! Except those of you

Translation-LPing is a pain in the neck. The game I did wasn't that text-heavy, but it did have some large technobabble-laden text dumps, and... well, I promised to LP the sequel like a year ago and I still haven't gotten around to it. So I really have the utmost respect for anyone who does VNs or anything with that level of text. They are crazy, and I salute them.

It certainly has to be a big, tricky project to take on, even with a less text-heavy one, just to share a video game with people who might never get to know about it otherwise. I have a lot of respect for that. Dangan Ronpa is text out the wazoo, with lots of pop culture references and the occasional pun and all that nuancey business. The LPer is doing a pretty phenomenal job, all things considered (my heart is the heart of an editor so I can't help noticing the spots where it needs proofreading). Lots of respect.

Anyway, I'm glad you enjoyed the LP (even though the game wasn't all that good, and despite the constant technical difficulties)!
I've just started reading the Dangan Ronpa LP, and it looks... bizarre, yet intriguing. And holy cow, that is a lot of text. That LPer is crazy.

-- I hear you on your reasoning too, that's precisely why I solely lurk with my account. (Although I like having it set up as a barrier to entry; I kinda feel like if I start getting involved in actually posting in there it'll go places, so I never will unless something gets me antsy enough to spring for the name change.)

I like to hear myself talk too much to just lurk, I guess, but I can totally understand why you would. I like SA (well, mostly the LP subforum, though I hang around Ask/Tell and The Book Barn a bit too), but they're awfully judgmental of anyone who doesn't do fandom the way they do.
