I received my MJ trim order today, finally, and the velvet ribbon matches the velvet ribbon on my civil war skirt perfectly! So tonight I ordered 10 yards in two widths to add two more rows to the skirt and trim the ballgown bodice. I started on the bodice today, and got as far as sewing the front pieces together with piping in the seams. I'm using the simplicity ball gown pattern as a base, since I am feeling lazy and whatever I make will end up looking pretty similar anyway.
I'm going to trim the edge of the yoke thing (i think that has a different name? I can't remember right now) with 5/8" ribbon. Underneath the ribbon I will put fringe made from the silk fabric with threads pulled to leave only the turquoise threads showing.
I also managed to put some trim on my regency bonnet/hat hybrid. I box pleated some brown wire edged ribbon and stitched that around the silk crown. I should take pictures.
This week has been a really good one for mail. I've gotten my SAT scores, which weren't bad at all, the $250 prize money from the 4-H fashion show, and my AP art history test results....I got a 5!!! I didn't really think I would, but yay!
