stuff and things

I've been having a great time since I got back to school from spring break (9 awesome days in Santa Fe). I'm draping again, trying out new things there, making steampunk flower moon costumes for the badass spring opera...its fun. And I don't have that much homework this term. Its so WEIRD to have free time! I've managed to, in a couple of weeks, make 1&1/2 corsets, a pair of spats, a garter skirt, and have taken on about 3 etsy commissions because I'm bored and don't know what else to do! Its really nice to be back in the swing of commissions and sewing my own projects and talking to clients and coming up with interesting designs. Etsy is working out really well for me so far! I had my first out of the blue sale a couple weeks ago and I've had one more since, and a couple people have approached me for custom comissions and some of my custom request bids have been accepted. AND ONE OF MY DRESSES WAS FEATURED ON THE FRONT PAGE! This is a fun, interesting outlet for spare energy and creativity, not to mention its making me money.

I just finished a custom corset made from the buyer's own kimono fabric, which is a STUNNING silk brocade with cranes, flowers, ducks, water, trees, etc. on it. And it happened to fit me, so today lizcostumes and I did a corset photoshoot. This is probably the most badass and yet amusing picture of me, ever.

Pretty much where my life is right now. I have a fun summer lined up; I'll be the draper at New Harmony theatre in Evansville, IN for 10 weeks, and then Jonathan and I are roadtripping all over the freakin' country and moving him out to NC (yay!!).

corsets, school, life
