I slept for ten hours last night.
I'm not sure I can remember the last time I slept for ten hours.
It's like my body said, "Okay, now that I've got your attention..."
Okay, message received, Bod. Now stop. I would like to have a vacation I can remember.
Then, after being awake for about an hour, I passed out again.
When I woke up, brunch was being worked on (this was 10:30), so I went and took a shower and almost missed the scraps the boys left behind.
I should mention, for those that don't know, that we're staying with my aunt and uncle in Lillington, near Fort Bragg. My uncle, who is retired from the Army, used to be stationed at Fort Bragg, and when he retired they decided they liked the spot enough not to move.
Personally, I think there's a little too much of the red-brick-with-white-trim theme going on, and trees should be next to houses, not just on alongside highways and where country club owners dictate. (It's not that bad, but it feels that bad.)
Aunt Nancy loaded us all into the car shortly after brunch. It's been raining or overcast since we got here, which normally I'm completely for, but we were hoping to spend some time swimming. Now that will have to wait for Thursday, which is going to be our big trip-to-the-beach day. We drove a good half hour till we got to a corner of civilization that wasn't just the essential video store and Chinese food restaurant. Our first stop was a used bookstore.
I'm pretty sure this particular used bookstore puts all the ones in Rochester to shame. I found both of the Robin McKinley novels that were next on my list, including the one I failed to find at Barnes and Noble on Saturday. To top it off, they're hiring. Full time. Remind me why I should go back to Rochester?
Remind me what working only one job is like.
We ambled around the mall next, more for the exercise and being kept awake by the upright position than for any other reason. Walking past one of the little kiosks, the saleslady actually managed to sucker Mom and I into buying some makeup.
I don't wear makeup. Last time I did was a night out with Mandy, and it was at least six months ago. But the lady was just so cute, and desperate, and talked with an accent...It was almost impossible to say no.
Maybe it's because I'm on vacation, but I usually don't have any trouble saying no to people.
I took another nap when we got back to the house, and when I woke up, my cousin Kirsten helped me make dinner.
Now we're watching Mall Cop, which I'm about to walk out on, and looking back over this post I think I can confirm that when we said we were going to be bums all week, we meant it.

P.S. Tomorrow I get to explain to my grandparents while I will not be walking at my graduation.
